The Open Door by William Henry Fox Talbot, April 1844 The traditional Witch’s broom is made out of an ash handle and bristles from birch twigs tied to the handle with thin pieces of willow wood. Some Witches also used to decorate their brooms with flowers of the season tied with colored ribbons.

How to Celebrate Mabon as a Busy Witch 101
🍂 Mabon Blessings, everyone! 🍂
If you’re anything like us, you’re most likely unable to really celebrate anything without having to get ready for work/classes in the middle of it. Here are a few ways you can still celebrate Mabon / The Autumn Equinox, without having to sacrifice your right leg and left arm to do so.
🍂 What is Mabon? 🍂
Mabon is commonly known as the Autumn Equinox, and or the Harvest Festival. It marks a time in the middle of harvest, and a time where night and day are at an equilibrium. Some people even refer to this time, as the Witch’s Thanksgiving. where it’s a time to reflect on the blessings you’ve received in life and take a moment to really appreciate what you have.
It’s also a time for change, much like the leaves as they change colors, we must focus on the future as well as remembering our roots.
This can be as simple as reflecting on your witchy journey, really appreciate your own growth and just take a step back to realize there is so much more to learn.
🌕 Now that we’ve discussed that, here are some ways you can still celebrate while not neglecting your responsibilities. 🌑
📝 We drew inspiration from these lovely YouTubers, who shared some awesome ideas! We’ll credit each idea to their rightful originator, because we give credit where it’s due.
We also encourage that you take some time to watch these amazing videos. These people put a lot of time and effort into sharing their knowledge; and I’m sure they’d be completely excited to know you appreciate them as much as we do. 📺
10 ways to celebrate Mabon & the Autumn Equinox - The White Witch Parlour
No 118 Witches : Celebrating Mabon - Tylluan Penry ( She is very Informative, she also has so many informative videos and she’s an amazing author. )
⚠️ Some ideas have been revised to make it easier for us busy witches, since they either required too much time or required specific materials that would be a bit difficult for us to obtain. ⚠️
1. 📜 Count Your Blessings - The White Witch Parlour 📜
Requirements: Paper, Pen/Pencil, A Jar/Container
Write down things you’re grateful for, such as : Pets, People, Financial Situation, Health, ect.
Cut paper into rectangles, and write things you’re grateful for.
Have your Jar/ Container ready.
Take each blessing, and reflect on how lucky you are to have them as you place them in the jar/container.
Close jar/container when finished.
Appreciate how full the jar is and how much more room there is for more blessings in the future.
This is such an easy and simple way to celebrate Mabon, it’s said to be the Witch’s Thanksgiving; and that alone should simplify the understanding of it’s purpose. I really think this is also a great way to remind people to be humble, and recognize their own growth.
2. 🍎 Harvest Thanks - Revised from The White Witch Parlour’s ‘Go Apple Picking’ 🍎
In the Video, she recommends to go Apple Picking, but when you barely have time to breathe as it is. It’s difficult to set that time aside.
My revision of this, is just to simply grab fresh apples from the grocery store.
Once home, take a few seconds to wash them and be thankful that you’re even able to take such delicious fruits home.
Appreciate the hard work the earth put into making that fruit, but also be thankful for the people who worked hard to grow those crops.
3.🕯️ Light A Candle - Kinara 🕯️
This one is super easy to do, but it’s something that I believe most people can handle.
Mabon has specific colors associated with it, such as : Red, Orange, Brown, Gold, and Maroon.
Here are some scents that really represent Mabon : Nutmeg, Cloves, Sandalwood, Sage, Cinnamon, ect.
This couldn’t be easier to do, the only thing you’d need to do is buy a candle, which is easily obtained online with a few clicks.
I unfortunately can’t burn candles, but I’ve decided to take time to make some candles with Cinnamon and Vanilla scents.
I’ll post my tribute to Mabon once they’ve solidified, and if anyone is curious to learn how to make them I’ll gladly post a Tutorial shortly after.
4. 🍵 Try a Mabon Inspired Recipe - Kinara & Nessa 🍩
I know this one might be a little harder for some to do, but I thought this simple recipe would be easy enough for even the busiest witch to try.
I personally love apple cider, and here I found a super easy recipe that will help celebrate Mabon without killing to much time.
Mabon Apple Cider Pumpkin Muffin
If you’re too busy to make anything, try buying pumpkin spices lattes, frappes, and cinnamon donuts!
Honestly, you can make this any time during October-November because it’s just delicious and I always find myself drinking it all!
5. ✨ Decoration! ✨ - Nessa & Kinara
Mabon has a lot of amazing things associated with it, the main ‘mascots’ are typically involve a lot of crops such as:
corn pumpkin leaves changing cinnamon nutmeg apples fruits, and so much more!
Pick your personal favorites to set up a small altar space, putting at the least 3 items that resonate with you and this time of bountiful harvest!
You can even hit the store to buy some fall scented air fresheners, or even pick up a fall scented car freshener!
6. 👗 Autumn Outfits! 👖 -Nessa
Easy enough! Raid your closet for an outfit that screams autumn for you!
Mabon Colors: Red, Orange, Brown, Gold, Russet, and Maroon.
This is probably one of the simpler ideas, and honestly it gets over looked because of how simple it is. But, if this is your one chance of paying some sort of respect/ tribute to Mabon while still taking responsibility for your priorities; then you’re killing the game!
Keep on witchin’!
I hope these helped some of you, sorry for the long post! Happy Mabon, and may your journey be filled with light laughter!
-Kinara & Nessa
Yaaay! 💜 easy makes me happy!

A Lesson for Young Witches
If you cannot find representations for a given element, remember…
You are supported by a rigid skeleton made of minerals. You are earth.
Your body is over 70% fluid. You are water.
Your lungs take in and expel breath. You are air.
Your blood is warm and your brain runs on electrical impulses. You are fire.
Your essence, however you describe it, resides within you. You are spirit.
You are composed of gifts from every element, and every element is given marvelous life in you.
Never feel that you are insufficiently magical for lack of icons or accoutrements or accessories.
You are ALWAYS magic. You are ALWAYS enough.
