It’s World Sea Turtle Day! This green sea turtle, or honu in Hawaiian, can be found in Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, eating mostly seagrasses and algae. These green beauties are protected under the endangered species act, due to such threats as bycatch, habitat loss, and entanglement. You can help protect these turtley amazing animals by picking up trash at the beach, keeping a safe distance from adults and nests, and always practicing good ocean stewardship.
