Titularly released on January 8th, 2025, alongside the rest of Perverts, ’Thatorchia’ suits itself as the eighth track of the EP. A ritual for respite, Ethel hums this tune as the individual transpires to the ‘divine theatre’ and serves as a preliminary bridge to the climax of the EP.
Given the nature of the project, the titular “Thatorchia” stands as the Greek analogous combination for both ‘Thanatos’ meaning death, and the subsequent torture of testicles through ‘orchialgia’, which fits the theme of the album’s narration of sinful masturbation, being punished therefore for committing the deed of ‘loving thyself’. Shame correlates castration.

Cybele, Mercury (Wednesday), Jupiter (Thursday), Venus (Friday), Ceres." From British Art and the Mediterranean by Franz Saxl and Rudoph Wittkower, Oxford University Press, 1948.
