So not only will the Travelers get to use these sick ass outfita on Snezhnaya but they will be carrying and using guns with them and look like a villain omaggggg. The theory of them (forcibly?) joining the Fatui closer to truth everyday I'm so fucking excited!!!!

Ik there are many other characters with intentional likeness to rabbits in this game but... the traveler is just so rabbit too. Also gods the clothes in this game are complicated

So what's with the glasses? Does Aether need them or is just for style points?

He does in fact need them! Spoilers for Natlan ahead, so if you haven't played, the tl;dr is that he needs them post-Natlan as a full time thing! But he has yet to have learned a way to save them from breaking or being lost as he gets into these massive tussles all the time. Aether goes through a lot of pairs

I also do think he looks cute with them, but his character doesn't only have them for style points! If he's drawn without them, it's safe to assume that Aether is a pre-Natlan finale one.

In my version of things, Aether doesn't breeze through everything in the Night Kingdom so easily- he dies protecting Mavuika, so she can go on to win the battle and have her own big moment! It's never sat right with me that everything about Aether's ancient name was so important prior to everything, and then later just. Didn't need used? It felt like a wasted opportunity to settle just how serious the situation was- the protagonist can come back now if he dies, so allow the story the seriousness of him dying!! For once he doesn't win!

So when he's brought back via the Name and the Ode (or in the verse I share with a friend of mine for the Kazuther ship, Kazuha playing the biggest part in bringing him back), he's changed some. Having an Ancient Name connects the Traveler irreversibly to Teyvat, you can't change my mind- and being brought back with it makes that more apparent! He gets tired easier, he's more achy, and- this is where it gets relevant to the question again- his eyesight gets worse! He's an old critter who's true nature and power is still locked away from him, and things are beginning to catch up with this new connection.
