Hey so I just read someone saying something really awful: Someone made a post claiming that Ed Brubaker created buckynat to satisfy his own r*pe fetish (aka wanting to fuck an abused woman) and I'm just like??? Did Brubaker actually say something like that about buckynat??? Like I know it's probs just someone pulling stuff out of their ass but it's still freaky to even see a claim like that lol.

What the ever living fuck, no Brubaker did not create Bucky and Natasha’s relationship because he wants to fuck an abused woman, and whoever said that should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

jfc what is wrong with people? A massive storytelling point of their relationship is showing that people who have survived unimaginable trauma and abuse can still develop healthy and happy relationships. Natasha and Bucky are both survivors, and are at different stages of their recovery but rather than portray their relationship the ways we normally see in the media, i.e. where they are either both completely emotionally broken/dysfunctional/etc. or where their traumas are both completely ignored, both the Captain America and Black Widow series depict a healthy relationship without denying the existence of both of their traumas. They aren’t emotionless robots who just fuck a lot for the sake of fucking. There is no magic cock/vagina that magically takes away all their pain. Sometimes there are nightmares. Sometimes there are rash, stupid actions taken because of the guilt they feel for the things they were forced to do. Sometimes there are secrets not shared because they are too personal, but that’s okay because they understand that the boundaries survivors sometimes need doesn’t mean they don’t love each other any less because of them.

I shouldn’t be surprised that someone desperately trying to attack the relationship by trying to claim it was some sort of r*pe fetish on the author’s part - I mean, these are the same people who have tried to claim that Natasha r*ped Bucky for years. But it’s just fucking sad that instead of “YMMV”, people would rather make shit up about it. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that overall Bucky and Natasha’s relationship is healthy and nuanced in a genre not known for either, and then deciding that you still prefer another pairing! THAT’S OKAY! People, you don’t need to make up lies to demonize another pairing to justify your ship ffs,
