"going out to get milk" is a common turn of phrase used to describe a man abandoning his family.

the "milkman" is a common figure in stories depicting a woman's infidelity and adulterous affair.

this implies that the ability to provide milk would both decrease the likelihood of a man abandoning his wife and children, as it would eliminate the need for leaving to get milk AND would secure that man's marriage, as his wife would have no need to seek milk from an extraneous source.

therefore, all men should produce milk, through various means such as:

- being a cow

- being an almond

- being a woman

- being a coconut

- being in the omegaverse

- being an oat

maybe i’m being too sensitive here but like. “yiddish is so funny” “haha yiddish is such a good language like schlep really does sound like it means a long journey lol” “yiddish mouthfeel is great it’s is like the kiki and bouba of languages” my great grandparents were never able to fully communicate with their children because they struggled with english but refused to pass yiddish down after their oldest son was beaten by his pre k teachers every time he spoke it

the original fiddler on the roof musical had zero yiddish in it despite yiddish being the first language of the main characters and the entire ashkenazi culture the show is based on. the (jewish!) writers of the show said they made this choice on purpose because including yiddish would alienate the american theater audience and make the show not get taken seriously.

they wanted our traditions, music, stories, heritage, but refused our language.
