A little bit of backstory, I am Tad. I use any pronouns and am an aro/ace spec lesbian. I'm a questioning system with some chronic illness sprinkled on the side.

For so long I felt my accounts had to keep up an image, but getting sick made it hard to find the energy to keep up with those images. Also, what I was posting became incredibly toxic. So now I lowkey got rid of everything that wasn't my tiktok and started over. I am going to spam here a lot about the things I enjoy! Probably a lot about my ocs, reblogs of things I agree with/find interesting, maybe a sprinkle of art, and just straight shit posting if I feel like it.

Libby Libby Libby

The thing that gets me about the many, many times I've seen people recommend Libby (and to a lesser extent, Hoopla) as this sort of magical free place to read books! you can find free books on Libby! so much selection on Libby! Libby has it! have you looked at Libby? it's on Libby! is that Libby is your library.

Not in the metaphorical sense!

Literally, Libby is provided through your library. You get access if your library has provided Libby as a service to its users. It has to buy (well, lease, I think, technically?) ebooks and e-audiobooks for its community, which is why my Libby may have different titles or formats or wait times than your Libby.

Libby is not like Project Gutenberg or the Internet Archive or whatever else it's usually included on lists with, open to Americans across the country (and whatever other countries whose copyright laws allow access). Libby books are a service paid for by your library in the same way that physical books on its shelves are free to borrow, paid for by your library funding and selected by your librarians, and therefore may differ from the physical books at my library with my librarians. Libby is just the digital shelf!

Like basically all library services, Libby IS FANTASTIC and people SHOULD be encouraged to use it! But you're misleading people if you frame it like "free Netflix for books" and not "a library service you probably have access to!"

I actually really like the term genderqueer, because the only thing it specifies about your gender is that it's queer in some way. Does that mean you're nonbinary? Binary trans? Cis with some freaky cool gender presentation stuff going on? None of those or all of those? It doesn't matter and I think that's beautiful.

My least favorite part of disability is where the line between can't and don't want to blur. Like yes, I am physically able to move and get things done, but I feel just bad enough to not want to. It feels like the little energy I have left is something to cling onto and I just stare at my responsibilities and want to cry. Because I know I can do them, but my body already feels so heavy that I can feel the pain that I'll be in once I'm done. It's not laziness, it's as close to self preservation I can get.

I mean, phobias *are* disabilities. They are not directly fatal like seizures can be but they *are* disabilities. Phobias aren’t just getting a little nervous or grossed out about something. They are clinically debilitating.

Phobias are quite literally mental illness. They are classified in the dsm-V and have treatment plans. It requires treatment and a diagnosis. No it's not someone's silly little fear. Just because you don't get it doesn't mean you can make sun of it.
