OMFGcatapillar vs. a first grade reading group.
A group six-year-olds finished their assignment early so I started drawing things for them on the whiteboard. I think you can guess what I eventually drew. Here are some of the things they said about it.
Me: *draws a pair of glasses and begins to fill in the face around them*
Kid 2: It's happy laughing man!
Kid 1: The sun has glasses?
Kid 2: Happy laughing sun man!
Me: *adding hair, antennae*
Kid 2: Doolebiggle man! Schmoodlypoople man! It's Mr Schmoodlypoople!
Me: *adding caterpillar segments, dying of laughter at "Mr Schmoodlypoople"*
Kid 3: its a dog its a cat its a spider it's a caterpillar?
Me: Good job, you guessed it! *finishes with the dots* He's a caterpillar!
Kid 2: its a HOTTIETOTTIE mr HOTTIEDOODLE the HOTTEST MAN IN THE WORLD he's SO HOT
Me: (????????????????? CHILD???????) *laughing* What?
Kid 2: *singing and copying the drawing in her reading journal* MR HOTTIE HOT HOT HOT HE SO HOT
