Captain's Log Day 2
The zombies all left at dawn. They didn't manage to break through the barricade. Another day to try and figure out what happened to the team.
The Guide helped me to hang up the banner and jury-rig a workbench. It said that I might find useful supplies in caches left across the landscape. I asked who left them, but it clammed up.
---
I found a cache. It contained medical supplies, a weapon, and some metal. I took the box back to the campfire and made a shelter next to the barricade to protect my supplies.
---
On a hunch I went further into the cave where I found the first cache. It turned out to be a tunnel leading to what I presume is the cold weather survival simulation. Very sudden snow and wind. Was chased by a slime covered in ice crystals. It didn't seem to fare too well in the warmer area I retreated to, although using the blowpipe I found seems to have been a mistake and almost got me killed again.
This cache contained a quantity of strong rope, frag grenades, and some tape which I have used to fix up a hole in my boot. ---
The Guide provided instructions for building a fireplace. Should be more useful than the campfire I cobbled together last night.
---
I smelted some of the iron I picked up and made what could charitably be called an anvil. It's a surface for hitting things into shape, and should let me maintain the tools I have.
---
Near disaster. I decided to gather more wood from the shore of a frozen lake and failed to spot the slimes until they were upon me. One misjudged grenade throw later and I was nearly a smear on the snow. I have retreated to the storehouse for the night. The Guide remains outside near the tunnel entrance. I am unsure what will happen to it if it is surrounded during the night.
Time will tell.
