Entering the third year and I really thought it would be easier by now. I thought everything would be slightly lighter by now. Instead it’s just heavier. It’s just harder. It’s just life.

You don't have to force yourself to bounce back so quickly. I read something recently that said "when you come in from a rainstorm, you don't expect yourself to be dry and warm right away", and it really resonated with me. It's okay to take time to dry off and warm up. Take the time you need to process what happened to you.
This is for everyone out there who is socially anxious, shy and just feels uncomfortable in social situations. You are doing so well, my love. I know your heart might be racing, your palms might be sweating and you might not be sure where to look, but that is absolutely fine. You are not weird. Not at all. You are human. I just wanted to remind you that you are allowed to take up space. So, do not shrink yourself when you are surrounded by other people. I know you do not like the attention, I know you just do not want to be noticed, seen, called out; I know. But just know that you are allowed to talk, make noise, draw attention; you are allowed to exist. I know this post will not soothe your anxiety, but hopefully it will soothe your thoughts a little bit. I want you to know that you can be so proud of yourself for handling all of these situations so damn well. You are amazing.
So many men think they’re owed a woman’s time, attention, intimacy, etc and it has brought on so much violence that women have had to undergo
Always, always take the time to sit with and process your feelings. Often we live through events that are major for us and afterwards we just keep going - we do not stop to check our breathing, our heartbeat, our mental state. A lot of situations cause a lot of difficult emotions and while it is ok to let them exist for a while, it is not ok to bury them. Make room for your feelings and thoughts, my love. Remember to reflect on your experiences and make sure to evaluate how you feel about them. Reflection is the key to truly knowing yourself, to truly healing yourself.
“I TOOK CARE OF MYSELF and it wasn’t beautiful. I took care of myself and looked at the overdue bills in the face, even though it hurt. I took care of myself and cried ugly through the therapy session; made another appointment for next week. I put in the work and wrote all the bad memories in detail. I apologized to all the friends I didn’t have the energy to talk to. I finally cut off all my dead ends and bought produce; slimly avoided sustaining myself on barbecue chips and poetry. I recycled. I set an alarm for 8 hours of sleep and did not sleep more or less. I took care of myself and it wasn’t bubble baths. It wasn’t lotion at Bath and Bodyworks and three-cheese pizza. It was uncomfortable. It wasn’t beautiful, but I am, and it didn’t have to be beautiful to be worth it.”

What's it like to be a woman,
I was asked.
I just sighed and formed a small curve on my face.
Oh, to walk a mile in these worn out shoes,
Heels scraped, still pointed enough,
To knock off abuse.
Stumbling my way through this world,
Because born i was as a mistake,
To see their smiles as i took my first steps,
Quickly turn into frowns,
As i grew up into this mess.
I can't figure things out for myself,
I can't tell right from wrong,
But I'm expected to, right?
With no one to teach me,
Just scold me and preach me,
"Don't sit like that" "Don't express your mind"
"Don't overreact!"
"Don't be an emotional wreck on the outside!"
Where do i go, when the folks that brought me up,
Are the first to question me when things go wrong?
Doubting their shadow, scared of their own reflections in me,
Silence my doubts and fears with ease, and say,
"Oh it's just part of being a lady"
I have to face this whole wide world,
Knowing if i fall there'll only be two ways,
Laughter and pointed fingers,
Or unmasked pity, unwanted sympathy all the way.
Be that as it may,
I'll still try to stand strong,
In the skin I've been taught to hate all my very short life long,
Always too much of something,
But never enough,
Making my life an endless to-do list,
based on the wants of a world that just keeps asking too much.
They'll fit me into boxes and label me as they wish,
And when i stand out they'll shame me,
Till i give up and just crawl back in.
Fit in these shoes,
We'll change the sizes each day,
To think today was a triumph,
Tomorrow will be your fall from grace.
Never ask for more,
Settle for less,
Alas you were born this way honey,
To carry every single one's baggage,
And still watch as the man takes the gleaming trophy.
You'll ruin our name with the choices you make,
So let us be the voice of reason,
Because you know what we taught you baby,
Be trustworthy, but never trust anyone.
Your life was carved out for you,
when you were born,
we'll make you think you're allowed to be,
But in the end we know that's not the truth at all.
So, never ask me, is it easy or hard,
To be a woman in this day and age,
For i can't tell you honestly,
Without combusting in my own suppressed rage.
I'm proud of who i am,
Despite the world asking me not to be,
Constantly reminded to change myself time and again,
To appeal to the ones that say they "care about me."

BTW i need stories where women are hopeful. I need stories where women are allowed to be dumb and goofy and stupid and funny and flirty and cringy and wholesome and messy. I need stories where women can be sensitive and not be accused of being manipulative. I need stories where women are happy, and kind, and bright. I need stories where women don't hate being alive.
Despite the setbacks and frustrations, I know that tomorrow is a new day, brimming with opportunities for redemption and renewal. I refuse to let today's misfortunes define me, choosing instead to approach tomorrow with optimism and resilience. After all, every setback is merely a stepping stone on the path to growth and self-discovery.
it’s not your full responsibility to control other people’s perceptions of you. people will think what they want and jump to the conclusions they want. you just be you.

Mad tired. Have to wake up in about five hours, so I'll go get all the rest I can so I can be ready to face a new day.
Dear me,
You can't be everything for everyone and that's okay :)
a little reminder that it’s ok to sob your eyes out after having a long day. it’s ok to get overwhelmed by small things. your sensitivity is a gift, do not let anyone tell you otherwise. you’re so special. sending you so much love.
those little things on ur nose aren’t blackheads, don’t try and get rid of them they’re sebaceous filaments and they’re permanent and literally everyone has them
every girl has that little pouch of fat on her lower tummy, despite what magazines try n show u, you have important organs there that need to be protected don’t try and get rid of ur pouch
ur body is smarter than u think and it knows what to do when u eat more than normal. one bad day, or even week, of eating poorly isn’t gonna ruin anything at all I pinky promise
if u think u look good up until u try taking a selfie, it’s not ur fault - our faces are asymmetrical and when u see ur face flipped it will look unnatural to u, since u don’t see it that way when u look in the mirror. to everyone else it looks perfectly fine
no one’s stomach looks the same at 8pm as it does at 8am. no one has a chiseled six pack after a day of eating, not even the super fit people u see on tumblr, because ur stomach naturally expands after eating and expecting to have a flat tummy before bed is very unrealistic
no one notices if the bags under ur eyes are bad today. no one pays attention to the bump in ur nose or the zit on ur chin or the piece of hair that u missed when u were straightening. literally no one notices these things except you so stop worrying about it ur gonna be fine
sometimes u just gotta get over urself
this made me cry I needed it so bad
The feeling of not being able to put your thoughts and emotions into words is so frustrating
I wish that I could make someone else understand what is going on inside my head, even just a little bit, but how am I supposed to communicate when I can’t even understand myself?
I want to love you so well, your heart relaxes its shoulders all the way down; your body lets out the breath its been holding. I want my love to be such a safe place, the walls never shiver with sharp tongues or high volume. a love solid enough, when you count your worries for the day, our happiness sits miles from the list.
