I’m going home after this.” He was excited to see Amelia before he did go home though. “You know I had to check in with you.”

“Oh that’s great!” Amelia squealed. “I told you my ex was the one running things back on Anaiva after Tsurugi got woken up, but did I tell you he finally died when Southern Cross exploded?” Amelia asked, tucking some hair behind her ear. “i can’t remember.”

“I don’t think so but cheers to that! We have to go out after this. A night on the town like the old days. I remember that one time you...” He paused in fear of a smack coming his way, :Let’s just say it was a good time.”

It had been several months since the Kyurangers had defeated Don Armage and the evil rule of Jark Matter. Many planets were just starting to show signs of recovery from being controlled and devastated by the dark organization. But there were still hundreds of worlds still unable to return to what they once were. So in an effort to help, a benefit concert would be held by the universally known and loved, Amelia.

Jack had missed the battle against Don Armage as he was off fighting in another system at the time. But there was no chance he would miss Amelia’s concert. Especially when they had planned to perform together. So the day had come and he got prepared in his green room. But he wanted to speak with Amelia before she went on.

He made his way to her room and knocked before entering. “How’s the huge star? Got any jitters? I’m sure I can help you with those.” He couldn’t help but flirt. It was in his nature but he also just liked messing with her.

This was Amelia’s first big concert since she’d gotten her kyutama nearly two and a half years earlier, and she was a little bit nervous. But there was no way she was going to tell Jack that.

“Please I’ve been doing this since I was sixteen, I’m not nervous in the least,” she shot back playfully before turning to give him a hug. “I missed you, how have you been?” Sure they’d talked to each other over their communicators but this was the first time she’d seen him in person in almost a year.

“I don’t think I’m cut out for this. I’m in way over my head.”

Samantha had been crying in the break room for over an hour after a particularly brutal mission. Information had been false. She had been the one to receive and verify this information. It was her fault that two rangers, her friends, had been heavily injured and are now in intensive care. She was happy that they were at least able to escape but the guilt was eating away at her.

“I’m in way over...” She quickly stiffened in her seat as the door slid open. The sound of the door brought her out what seemed like a trance, having been repeating the same two sentences to herself over and over.

“Ah! J.I.” She wiped the tears from her eyes and tried to put on a braver face. “How are they doing?”

Henry didn’t want to seem like he was desperate to continue the conversation, he also didn’t want to seem too enthusiastic about talking since that just gave others the wrong idea that he liked chatting which could lead to..annoying circumstances. He just didn’t have time to waste on small talk, not when there was work to be done, yet..he didn’t exactly mind talking to Samantha or anyone..and not just because he needed the sound..even if he would never admit that out loud. Samantha seemed happy to talk and that was something that he also didn’t mind; she was kind and thoughtful from what he had gathered. His grumpy expression faded a little as he absorbed every word she said, then slowly frowned and leaned forward after taking another thoughtful bite of his chicken and rice. “Caroline..snuck out again, surprise surprise..” Henry mumbled, nodding his head and folding his hands as he pushed his bowl away so he could listen more intently. It was very expected of her, that he could agree with fully. “So she was doing her own secret training then?” he quickly asked, wondering if Samantha was supposed to tell him that or not. His brow creased together when she tried to take it back and immediately shook his head, waving her worry off with a quick “Don’t worry about that, just tell me..she was doing her own secret training? Is that why she sneaks out so much?” Henry wasn’t sure if his own training was supposed to be secret or not but he really didn’t care if they knew. What did it matter? He barely caught the legitimate sign of nervous worry in Samantha’s eye, but when he did; Henry quickly tried to ease her mind without realizing it. “You’re fine really..It’s okay.” he said rather awkwardly, then cleared his throat to continue. “You can go through us like a checklist, that’s sort of what it is..and you don’t have to worry if it sounds rude, it’s your job too.” Henry could tell she did care but he merely shrugged, tilting his head and avoiding her eyes when he acknowledged how genuine she sounded. It was hard for him, and he tried to play it cool but there were clear signs of nerves underneath the exterior and serious grumpy demeanor. He could tell she was a bit nervous too so he quickly tried to move on. “I’m fine, things are fine right now, tell me more about Caroline and this secret training.” Henry pulled his bowl back and went to take another bite, trying to steer the conversation away from talk about him. “You got in trouble earlier because of her?” That didn’t seem fair..”You uh, don’t deserve to get in trouble for her actions..” he mumbled, covering his slight concern for Samantha and sort of Caroline too with an expressionless gaze while they ate.

Samantha relaxed as Henry became more talkative but the thought of treating humans as if they were some task for her to complete angered her.”I would never do that. You all are precious individuals with valuable lives beyond your jobs.” And she would tell anyone that to their face. It may get her fired in the future but she’d rather worry about that then.

“Don’t worry about it too much. I don’t mind getting in trouble if it can help you all a little. I know what you three do is rough and added berating would just be miserable.” She really did feel for them. Even in the short amount of time she has been working here.

“I really wasn’t supposed to tell you this but by secret I mean it was unknown to you all. We train Caroline by increasing the difficulty of her sneaking in and out of the facility. Her sneaking out though is of her own doing. She didn’t figure it was a part of her training until recently.”

“Fair enough. I’m not going to pull a Draco and pester you about it.” Barry pours himself some coffee and sips it slowly. “Hey, you two know that old amusement park in Goldenrod City? The one that’s been closed for twelve years? They just finished renovating it. I’ve got the day off, and I wondered if you and your Twerp Squad would like to go.”

Hana looked to Lionel. “You think it’s a good idea? Could be fun. Although we’d have this old man with us?” She pointed to Barry with a smile. Teasing was an essential part of the Foreman household. “I could go for a funnel cake right now too. Oh and a corn dog!”

“Well, if something does happen, we have those other rangers you ran into to help out. You said they were called ‘Gigabyte’ right?” Lionel finishes his dessert. “Can you put me in touch with their yellow ranger?”

“I don’t know if I can. I probably shouldn’t have even told you about them.” Hana worried if that was a smart move on her part. “Apparently they are super strict about stuff. At least their bosses are. They aren’t like us.” She was still worried about Caroline. “They can’t really interact with other rangers.”

“That’s not right at all. Shouldn’t Rangers be able to help each other?” Lionel leans back as Hana’s older brother walks into the kitchen. Barry smiles. “Hey, Twerp 1 and Twerp 2.” He musses up Lionel’s hair and gives Hana a small hug. “What are you talking about?”
