Are horror movies going back to basics? Because it kinda feels like it.

There’s definitely been a shift from highly metaphorical horror to more… let’s say, classic horror.

Monsters, slashers, and gore have been taking over the horror scene recently. Think 𝘕𝘰𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶 (2024), 𝘛𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘳 2 (2022), and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 (2024) — all films that embrace the classic tropes of the golden ages of horror. We seem to be circling back to full on terror.
