How tragic is it that Spamton G Spamton, someone presented as a boastful unpleasant person by those who knew him before his fall cared so much about Tenna that he was going to give him his greatest secret? This selfish little rat was willing to let Tenna into his world and despite having all that divine intervention, the caller from heaven, to himself he was going to share it with his partner. It was a gift for HIM alone and he was going to give that up for Tenna.

He signed the deal and that costed him everything. I like to imagine the moment that pen hit the ink to spell Spamton his hand shook at the "G" and the phone began to ring.

Considering how Spamton treats Tenna after he leaves I'm left to assume the caller not only predestined his death to Spamton, but told him lies about Tenna's intentions, sewing doubt in the partnership. How dare you sign this agreement. This is wisdom for you alone. Spamton lost everything because he wanted to bring another person, someone he genuinely loved, into his world and fate itself told him that it was predestined to fail and that this person was not to be trusted. Using him, just like the others.

When the only user is the very caller pulling his strings.

He was punished for loving Tenna and spent the next 10 years resenting what they had and when he finally can see him again what does he do? What words does he have for the man who technically ruined his life.

He realized that Tenna was being honest with him the whole time. Despite everything in the world being against him, Tenna DID care and DOES STILL CARE. But due to his deal with the caller he couldn't...

Spamtenna isn't just doomed yaoi. It's doomed by the narrative yaoi. Doomed and destroyed purposefully by the most powerful entity in Deltarune.

Coming out of the tags for this one because I have Thoughts:

You get it op. You get it. thats what makes me baNG MY HEAD AGAINST A WALL. Especially because it fits so perfectly in with deltarune's overarching 'no one can choose who they are and your choices dont matter' theme. Spamton himself IS THE EMBODIMENT of a character who seeks to do LITERALLY ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING to break those chains To the point where it drives him MAD. The narrative brings him to the bring of his own destruction to show Kris "this will happen to you if you step out of line like he did." And Spamton was still willing to make that decision that cost him everything. They DID care about each other. He DID care about Tenna, especially because (and very likely) Tenna was one of the few people if not the only person who HONESTLY reciprocated any sort of honest love for him back. We know Spamton gives pipis to people who make him happy, (see: giving noelle a pipis for being the only one to read his emails) and the fact that Tenna straight up kept one. So imagine being Spamton, losing EVERYTHING over that contract, festering in your own self hatred for a DECADE and being CONVINCED that Tenna did not care about him. He was so used to everyone else treating him poorly, and Spamton G "do whatever it takes to survive" Spamton would absolutely fall back on that "me against the world" mentality. It forces him back into being in it for himself, because he got screwed over at every step of the way. And then having to live with that, what happened, never knowing if Tenna actually cared or not, and knowing he was fated to die and he'd likely never get that closure or confirmation. It's no wonder that man crumpled to the point of shaking with excitement SO easily at simply seeing that pipis Tenna had kept.
