 Hey btw, another worldbuilding thing: You can, and actually should have weird and impractical cultural things. They’re not inherently unrealistic, for as long as you address the realistic consequences as well.

 Let’s say you’ve got a city where there’s tame white doves everywhere. They’re not pests, they’re regarded as sacred, holy protectors of the city, and the whole city cares for them and feeds them like they’re pets. They’re so tame because it’s a social taboo to hurt or scare one. Nice pretty doves :)

 Then someone points out that even if they’re not seen as pests, doesn’t having a completely unchecked feral pigeon population - that not only isn’t being culled, but actively fed and cared for - mean that there would be bird shit absolutely all over the place?

 A part of you wants to say no, because these are your nice, pretty doves. To explain that there’s a reason why they’re not shitting all over the place, maybe they’re super-intelligent and specifically bred and trained to not shit all over the place. The logistics of how, exactly, could anyone breed and train a flock of feral birds go unaddressed.

 An even worse solution would be to not have those birds, editing them out of the world. No, they spark joy, you can’t just toss them out!

 Now, consider: Yes, yes they would, but the city also has an extensive public sanitation service that’s occupied 90% of the time by cleaning bird shit off of everything. One of the most common last names in the area actually translates to “one who scrapes off dove shit”, and it’s a highly respected occupation. And thanks to the sheer necessity of constantly regularly cleaning everything, the city enjoys a much higher standard of cleanliness, and less public health issues caused by poor public sanitation.

 The doves do protect the city. By shitting fucking everywhere.

i didn’t wanna reblog this just cos it doesn’t deserve to get seen but:

a) dwarves don’t share the gender binary that humans use, heterosexual versus homosexual is meaningless to them

b) gnomes have such a predilection towards illusions that gender is primarily based on presentation. because of consistent interaction with humans, they tend towards visually hetero relationships just for sake of public ease but gnomes all know gender is an ilusion

c) halflings are super community oriented. they would be incredibly accepting of homosexuality because frowning on someone for liking a particular gender is counter to community building

d) goblins don’t believe in sexuality they believe in food

e) orcs are 100% butch lesbians and bears. they are totally gay with a small side of being attracted to muscles and soft hairy bellies “but if they’re all gay how do they reproduce?” magic rituals motherfucker it’s a fantasy world

f) tieflings never have a predominant culture and tend to ascribe to human values, with a bit of “i’m already an outcast, so anything goes”. i don’t wanna say tieflings are super gay just because there is a lot of baggage that comes with the evil demon race being super gay but tieflings are super gay

g) dragonborn carry a lot of draconic values, one of the most notable being vanity. if a dragonbron is gay, they will literally be the embodiment of that “move, i’m gay” video. taboo my ass just try to stop that dragonborn, they’ll show you the meaning of flaming

bottom line here is really that if you thought the dnd races were straight you were so wrong. i am going to find you and rub my gay ass on your player’s handbook

"Don't make me laugh... it hurts..." with Melech and Veryn >>:)

It was suppose to be an ambush. Everything was set up and the group of goblins that had attack them prior was suppose to be rounding the corner any second. Everything was looking up until Veryn started speaking to himself, seamlessly out of no where. The others tried to snap him out of his babbling craze before it was too late, but no avail. It was only after Veryn was hit in the shoulder with a spear did he snap out of his daze.

The battle was short but it was still a battle. With it, came injuries. Nothing too severe for most, Melech made sure that the people up front were healed while he hung back towards the treeline that surrounded the group. How could have he known that there was a bugbear traveling with the goblins? And how would he had known that said bugbear was flanking them?

Moments later the tiefling felt a searing pain go through his torso, knocking him to the ground. Looking down he saw the javelin that cause the pain. He must have let out a sound on impact because most of his party members instantly came to his rescue. Oma and Thia was dealing with the bugbear, Portia and Xanaphia were on the goblins and Veryn was cracking jokes trying to keep the concern out of his voice as his friend was dying.

“If you die I swear I’ll kill you” it was half threat, half trying to cope with all the blood that Melech was losing. Veryn was never truly good at speaking his mind.

Melech gave a tiny chuckle at the comment only to recoil a second later from the pain. Damn he couldn’t even laugh correctly.

“Don’t make me laugh...it hurts...”
