When I was in high school, I was extraordinarily shy and scared of making a scene in class. My pencil had ran out of led and had happened to have a test that day. I tried really hard to muster the courage to ask someone around me or the teacher, but I already had a reputation for being forgettable and weird in that specific class.

I decided that I’d take the test in pen. At least I took the test, right? At least the teacher could grade the scantron by hand, instead of me getting an F!!

The next day, the teacher began the class by telling everyone that scrantons must be done in led. He spent 20 minutes explaining how scantrons worked. He then went on to joke, laugh, and get the whole class in on how stupid someone must be to take a scranton test in pen. I wondered if he remembered it was me, but I don’t think he did. He spent the rest of the semester bringing it up. I felt so humiliated. I thought I saved myself from embarrassment, but I ended up causing a semester long joke. ;_;

One of the most life-changing things I ever learned came from Mythbusters, where they tested and proved (with cognitive testing puzzles and reaction time tests) that lying down and resting with the intention to sleep STILL provided significant mental benefits over just staying awake, even if a person couldn’t fall asleep in the amount of time they had. 

It helps me to actually sleep to know that just lying down with my eyes closed is still doing me some good, and helps me to not freak out/beat myself up when I stay up later than intended. Any amount of rest is better than no rest!

So if you didn’t know that…now you do

Days like today make me question if God is real, because I actually love church as a place of tradition and community. It gets weird when power is in play, but I’ve had only positive things to say about the Episcopal church.

I mean, gays 🌈 … free music🎶 … happy old ladies to see youngin’ around 🥹… priests that can marry… free art to look at 🎨…go off Episcopalians???

I’ve had a completely stupid past 3 1/2 months of bad luck, but I went to church today and one of my biggest problems was solved? I probably found a really nice job and I also see the potential for friendships there. Aaahhhhh
