Do you ever think about how people keep insisting that Samira is unfit for the job, but there is no argument they can make for that that doesn't also disqualify every other character?

I think they are all unfit for the job either in s1, in s2 or both and thats point....every day in the real world people are treated by people who are burnt out, traumatised, and on the edge. Because there is no one else.

And its about the cycle of health care system that takes people, uses them dry and then spits them out. Offers no real support and expects them to get on with the job. Which isn't unique to the US either.

But a great many (not saying you) is in the my favourite character can do this, they can do that, they are perfect trenches.

Modified canon - anything that uses canon as a base and makes changes to it. Ex canon divergence, genderbends, a lot of soulmate aus

setting change - canon is not the base that is altered. Instead the characters are adapted to a different context. Ex most pirate aus, modern aus, high school aus, normal ppl aus

alternate universe - we have umbrella tags for any au that can be either but please use the more specific variant so people can filter stuff out!!

I wanted to ask what you thought of this newly developed Fanfiction.lol if you’ve heard of it? For me it kind of looks like a ao3 knockoff with double standards (like allowing “dark themed fics” but not allowing things such as underage sex?).

It also says that ai isn’t allowed (and I haven’t fully read the details about the website yet) but it seems like the situation you often talk about how real authors could get damaged by witch hunt situations.

I’ve never heard of it before. that said, “we’re allowing this thing but we’re not allowing that thing” is pro-censorship — even though underage stuff makes me uncomfortable and it’s what I avoid if I ever come across it, when I say “no censorship” I mean no censorship — so that alone tells me the platform is not something I’m interested in (why would I be interested in a pro-censorship version of ao3 when I have ao3?)

also I can already see genuine writers getting wrongly accused of using ai because they write about ships or topics that are disliked by others.

I figure pro-censorship folks and bullies who like to harass others over fiction would enjoy it though. so I guess it’s a good thing if it means these people finally leave ao3 alone.

Thw rules are what they are because they are Canadian and Canada law says it must be. This whole censorship argument is genuinely stupid as hell because it already exists. Most countries don't have the creative freedom the US does.
