happy glorious 25th of may
I've been receiving hate messages nonstop for the past week, so this is the last post I'll make on this account.
This was one of the worst relationships I've been in. I was snapped at, verbally abused, and treated like a punching bag for bad emotions. I tried to talk but nothing changed long term. They say I never communicated, but that's a lie. I tried to talk repeatedly and kept getting shut down so I just shut down emotionally and didn't want to talk more.
When we had sex my first priority was always to get them off. I only did the scenario they were claiming we did "every time" twice in the span of 3 years. The rest of the time it was focused around their pleasure and what made them orgasam.
Over time I dealt with being second place, being treated poorly, treated like I was the adult. I cleaned, cooked, helped with breakdowns, helped with rent and their addiction. There was no love in the last year of the relationship. Wr barely held hands, let alone kissed or cuddled. Everything was on their terms, not mine.
I was made to feel like a burden, like my needs weren't as important. For the last 8 months of our relationship I felt more like a roommate than a partner. I barely felt like a friend at times.
It was codependent and unhealthy, and I'm happy to be out.
You all can go fuck yourselves.
S OUT.
the good ending ☀️
My life would've been so much better if I'd never have met them

THERE IT IS AGAIN! THERE IT FUCKING IS! i’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS PHOTO FOR YEARS AND NEVER COULD FIND IT!! THE LAN PARTY WITH THE GUY DUCT-TAPED TO THE CEILING!! BACK IN ANCIENT TIMES WHEN PEOPLE STILL USED CATHODE MONITORS AND WHEN COUNTERSTRIKE WAS THE NEW THING. THIS SHIT IS REAL. THIS IS REAL SHIT. SHIT THAT HAPPENED.
Blackundertaker for the link. So kotaku did an interview with a butch of people to track down the people connected with the LAN party.
From the article.
The picture in question originates from Mason, Michigan, where a close group of friends who liked to build personal computers and organize LAN parties grew up. Through Reddit and email, we were able to get in touch with a large portion of the group, as well as obtain verification and additional images…
For the Mason alumni, the night they taped Drew Purvis to the ceiling was just an average day, another LAN party with friends.
“It was still early in the day and the LAN had already become fractured,” said Nick Wellman, another LAN goer. “There were about 10 of us there, and we were already playing three, four different games. Tyler was looking around and said, ‘I think you can duct tape someone to that I-beam.’”
At this point, the teens gathered the necessary supplies, bought duct tape on a friend’s employee discount and had the tallest attendee, Brian, hold the subject, Drew, aloft while the rest taped him up.
What you see in the now-iconic photo is actually the group’s second attempt to suspend their friend from the ceiling with duct tape. After about 10 minutes, the tape digging into his sides, Drew asked to be cut down. They revised their plan, adding pillows, and strapped him back up. Once on the beam, someone else had the idea to stack some tables up so Drew could still play on his computer.
“That is the funniest part about the picture,” Nick told us. “Gaming from the beam was a complete afterthought.”
Drew lasted about two hours suspended above his comrades before retiring to the ground (turns out a duct tape cocoon runs hot).
I'm reading The Truth, and the way Terry portrays Vimes in this book almost feels like a test for those who have read previous City Watch books. A reader who has read the previous books knows and trusts Vimes. We love him, we know he's a good man, we want him to succeed.
But in this book, he's almost an antagonist to William, at least initially. He's resistant and hostile to William's journalistic efforts, it seems like William is making his job harder, and my instinct was to be irritated with William about this. But as I've progressed through the book, I've realized that I fell into the Protagonist Trap with Vimes.
I, the reader, love Vimes. I trust Vimes. I want Vimes to succeed. But Vimes doesn't get to do whatever he wants just because I love him. William isn't doing anything illegal and he isn't doing anything wrong. And Vimes, irritated as he is, recognizes this.
It almost feels like Terry is leaning over the reader's shoulder to see if you were paying attention to the message of the other City Watch books, not just enjoying the adventure stories.

Wound up talking about Soul Music to my partner recently, and I described it as a story about grief and memory; Susan is grappling with the question of whether or not her grandfather (who is Capital-D Death, as it turns out) was responsible for her parents’ deaths, and winds up being dragged into her grandfather’s work because he’s too busy trying to get blind drunk and forget about what he’s done. Because despite himself, despite the fact he swears he can give up emotion whenever he wants, he’s fucking aching in sorrow and guilt for having to do what he did, because he had to do it, because they chose to live a mortal life.
And then I paused and said, “And the main plot is that a welsh guy invents rock and roll,” and I think that’s the discworld experience summed up
