I don't think Will reacts much to violence to himself. He reacts to violence to others, especially to people he thinks deserves protection, like Abigail, like Peter. He said Freddie's article on GJH (before they knew it was him) was tasteless, and snapped at her when she visited Abigail, but didn't say anything about her first article on him. Could be that he was distracted by Alana, but he just didn't react to it and quickly brought the subject away, and not in a I'll-be-miserable-about-it-later way.

The way I see it is that he doesn't see himself in the position to be harmed, because he knows, somewhere deep inside of him, he knows he's more capable of doing harm.

The only violence with him as victim that he ever reacted to was what Hannibal did to him. The only hurt he ever acknowledges (and quite extensively, at that) comes from Hannibal. And following the previous line of thought, it possibly means that Hannibal is the only person who he acknowledges to have a greater capacity for violence than he does. The hierachy for darkness gains a step, and he becomes vulnerable to harm and hurt.
