Yk how Aeolus is like the wind keeper? Yea i image Eos just dropping the 4 Anemoi off to him like a daycare.
Notos and Boreas screaming bc they're storm winds.
Odysseus tries to take a sneak in the wind bag.
Poor mf saw the eye of the north wind and said "Yeah, this bag is closed forever."
Aeolus gave Odysseus the bag that contained 3 winds, North(Boreas), south(Notos) and east(Eurus). Boreas is the cold storm wind, described to have a bad temper.
Ω PJO MISC. DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: NOTUS “THE GOD OF THE SOUTH WIND” {Wave 7.0}
a/n: Here we go, the first of Wave 7.0 of Miscellaneous Demigods and its Notus! This has been long in the works and midst writing this from just purely using Greek Mythology sources on Notus, I forgot that Notus actually technically appear in the main books which threw me off lmao. So if this seems a bit back and forth or even wishy-washy at times, well, I wanna say a lot of it is actually due to the fact that Notus and his brothers are exactly concrete per say. Anyways, thanks for reading and I hope you have a nice day!
You arrived in camp during the late summer and it was an unusual day in New Long Island when there were heavy, fierce winds with raging rain that seemed to splatter against every surface with angry fury. You were absolutely wet and your clothes were either torn, soaked to your skin, and what wasn’t was almost hanging off you as if the wind was trying to pull off your clothes. You rushed into camp with your satyr protector, who was bleating in the wind with water soaked fur, with howling monsters right behind your heels.
That was the day when you were claimed as a child of Notus, the God of the South Winds, one of the four Anemoi.
There’s going to be a lot of research and figuring out what your godly father is like, and in turn what it means to be a child of Notus. There’s little to nothing solely about Notus so there’s a lot of discovery and caution to the wind if you will as he’s both written to have strong, temperamental winds yet also have gentle winds, particularly in sailing.
If you were born in the South or your mortal parent was from the South, you are more likely than not to be a child of Notus. Or if you have some strong connection to the South.
This also means you probably speak Southern languages. Does this mean American Southern? Any Southern dialect of any other language? Probably!! I don’t see why not. This also means you probably have a Southern drawl or tone to the way you speak.
If you have a temper, you’re probably a child of Notus since Notus, as the South Wind, has been known to have winds that bring thundering, rain, so I can only imagine as a child of Notus whenever they have temper flare, the wind begins to pick up around them, thunder echoing in the distance and so forth.
Notus is also said to have a fiery temper which fits as he is the God of Summer, so there’s a chance you would be mistake as a child of Hephaestus at first for many because of the aura of fire that lingers around you; as shown in the Lost Heroes when Zethe and Calais thought Leo was a son of Notus, because they could smell fire on him, as he’s the blessed son of Hephaestus.
And if someone really made you angry? It has been accounted once that when a demigod of Notus was truly enraged, they set off a storm of both thunder and fire that swept through the land.
So with that, you may have the power of pyrokinesis to wield fire instead. I wouldn’t say you’re completely immune to fire, like a blessed child of Hephaestus like Leo Valdez, but you can take the heat pretty well.
This is rare, but you might be mistaken as a child of Zeus or some sort of relation to Zeus whenever your powers come up, if you have electrokinesis, going off the written descriptions of Notus with his “fierce winds, thunder, rain” so it was bound to happen, especially adding to the fact Notus is one of the least known Anemoi.
On that note, in terms of powers they include Wind Powers (obviously), minor electrokinesis power, semi-major water power but it's not subtle where you can control water from existing sources and there is always a cloud over you when you do so.
Using one power will show elements of the other one, like if you use your wind powers, there could be electricity sparking off you, or thunder and lightning being seen or heard somewhere, specks of rain appearing, etc. Even if you’re indoors, it’ll still happen.
Most demigods of Notus have the power of pyrokinesis or some relation of fire power then electrokinesis, given Notus connotations with summer; making the power of electrokinesis a rare, difficult ability of Notus demigods.
Regardless the possibility of powers and your access to them, some may come easier than most and as much as you will lean towards some more than others, there will be also powers that you cannot as control as much nor as more powerful.
You’ll probably have a talent for horse-riding and especially pegasus riding as Notus was written to have connection or be with horses as they ride as fast as the wind, with their hooves thundering. So when you ride a horse, they will be swift and their hooves thunder, and when you ride a pegasus, they fly swift and fierce through the skies especially.
However, don’t be surprised when you hear some horses or pegasus speak to you somehow. That’s when you learn that you have plenty of half-siblings…with Pegasus and Horses. Yeah, it’s not that far-fetched when you find out the Anemois appear as horses sometimes, particularly when pulling Zeus’ chariot, but it's something to wrap your mind around.
That said, you start to either deliberately try to learn or worry if you can shapeshift into a horse. Hopefully its at your own discretion of your time and choosing but given Greek mythology’s track record…👀
You might think because you can bring rain and because Notus represents late Summer and early Autumn, you think your rain is warm like actual summer rain. While it can’t be, it’s more likely than not. Notus has been described to bring chilly rain so most likely than not, when you summon rain as part of your storm and wind powers, it brings a chill to the bone as people get soaked.
If you get wet or someone does, or you accidentally spilled your drink over your homework, worry not because you can use your wind powers with enough practice. Being Notus’ demigod and as the representation of late Summer and early Autumn, your winds have a warmer leaning temperature but that is slightly cool as well. On the other hand, you may want to be careful as your wind can be really hot and Notus’s hot winds have once burnt crops with his parching breath.
On the other hand, it does open up if you can breath out fire specifically; if the wind is hot enough to burn crops, maybe you can breath fire. Though you best have the company of those like Leo Valdez, children of Hephaestus or any responsible individuals around you if you do have this power. The children of Apollo are ready to administer medicine if the fire does end up hurting your throat and mouth.
NOTE: If you can breathe fire, it does not necessarily mean you can wield fire nor immune or resistant to it. Practice caution with fire. This also may start people calling you literal Dragon Breath or of some related note.
You probably first unlocked your wind/air powers when you were shouting. Maybe you saw your satyr protector, someone dear to you, or perhaps even yourself in danger, and the panic and adrenaline began to fill your lungs until you couldn’t hold it in any longer. You shouted in rage, fear, and courage and the winds reacted, almost bellowing out from your own body together, pushing back the danger away as the South Wind is described as shouting.
You probably have a talent or already have an interest in seafaring, particularly any with free sailing. The winds command at your call as easily whenever you sail, particularly fierce and wild.
The perfect time you find out at some point, is at Dawn, when the light casts its light and hues over the water and the wind seems to be strongest and more malleable to you then; much like when “Boreas winds ceases on the arrival of Eos who gives mortals and a gentle breeze levels the sea, and they bell their sail before Notus’ breath.” (Theoi, Bacchylides, Fragment 13)
There is probably some confusion later on when you find out that while Notus is both the late summer and early autumn, and that your godly parent doesn’t preside over all of summer and shares autumn with his East wind brother, Eurus. However, you arrive just in time to help with the ending months of summer when it's both the hottest and driest at times, and your powers help bring rain to the strawberry fields and all over camp. But on the other hand, you also have the possibility of accidentally burning the crops, as Notus was also feared as a destroyer of crops.
Based on recordings of appearances with other Anemoi out of the other three, you probably don’t get along well with Boreas and any of his children. Much like Eurus’s winds blowing hard against Zephyrus’ winds, Notus’s South winds naturally conflict with Boreas’s North winds, hence translating to relationships as well. Whether it's just on the premise that contrasting directions cannot interact or because of personality, it's just how it is.
This also means if you ever met Boreas, you may not have the best time talking to him or convincing him if you need to, and this also extends to his children. Best to avoid Khione especially given her track record.

"So now I get why those flying dudes said I smelled like a demigod of Notus" commented Leo.
You were introduced to Leo Valdez after sometime you had arrived and were claimed at Camp Halfblood, and more so were introduced to Leo especially after you revealed you had flaming powers which was a problem because your powers leaned more to heat, which added to the sweltering heat since it was Summer.
"Wait, what flying dudes?" you asked, befuddled as your flames cut out in response.
"Oh yeah, back when I just discovered I was a demigod with my best friend Jason and our other friend Piper, we went on this quest and we ended up in Quebec, meeting this other wind god dude named Boreas? and these flying dudes, sons of Boreas, could smell the fire on me since I have Hephaestus' blessing, and thought I was demigod of Notus" recounted Leo. "I guess now I know why."
"Oh. So I guess you met my… uncle? That's cool."
"It was cool but not in the way you think. Just to give you a heads-up, you probably want to avoid him and his family because they didn't seem to get along."
"Well…I always thought why I didn't like Winter or the Cold that much, but I guess that's why" you said, already shivering at the thought. "But it still sucks because I heard Quebec is really beautiful in the Winter."
"Oh yeah, it was definitely pretty when we were there but we didn't have much of a chance to sight see when you have an angry snow goddess chasing you" shuddered Leo as he muttered some in Spanish under his breath. Your ears caught 'loco' and didn't ask.
Your brain itched as you knew what Leo was talking about but the name felt uncertain to you; as if hesitating to say the name would evoke the deity. The name eventually resurfaced as you muttered out, "Snow goddess…you mean Khione?"
Both you and Leo shivered as an icy cold feeling shot up within you as if you were dumped in a blanket of snow; even though it was clearly summer.
"Yeah, her. Beautiful, hot lady but the fact she liked keeping people she fancies as ice popsicles is less hot" stated Leo with a twisted, painful face, "Just be careful calling anything with heat related stuff about her. Learned that the hard way."
"Okaaaay" you said before looking at your hands. "So how long did it take you to control your powers?"
"A long time" he replied, his hands fiddling with something and was crafting something. "Mostly because I had a fear of fire ever since I watched my mom die in a fire, thinking I was responsible for her death and everything, then when I learned Gaea was behind it and my fire could be used to help my friends, well, it gets easier."
Memories of fire harming people around you popped in your mind and the few exceptions, your hand turned ice cold with sweat. You flexed them, the digits of you hand feeling stiff as you shakily spoke up,
"I like fire. I won't deny that. But I know fire can be dangerous as beautiful and as cool as it is that I can wield fire and all that…there's always that voice in my mind."
You felt a hand on your shoulder, warm and calloused as Leo gave you a grin. "Hey, don't worry about it. As long as I'm around, I won't let anything happen to anyone and you."
Your chest felt warm as you felt yourself easing up.
"Thanks Leo."
"No problem. Alright one more time from the top, let's flame on and show them what a demigod of Notus can do!"
You let out a sign of disbelief. "You did not just make a Fantastic 4 reference."
"Oh come on, it was great!"
"Really though?"
"Alright, then what else would you say that is just as awesome as 'Flame on'?"
You thought for it but ended up drawing blank.
"Yeah I thought so" grinned Leo, "This is why I'm the fire master, and you are the young padawan."
You rolled your eyes and flicked a sparkle that went off like firework sparkler. Leo blinked as you realized what you had done.
