Rules and Bio

Just a quick summary of her bio:

Jackie is the adopted daughter of Barbossa, the bio daughter of Jack

The former adopted her as a newborn and she had a good life until she jumped of the Pearl when she was seven

Washed up in Port Royal about two days later, practically unconscious. Little girl decided that Will was nice to her, and thus someone to be close to. Same goes for Elizabeth.

She isn't treated well by most.

She's stuck for six years, and in CotBP, she's thirteen and goes with Jack at the end

Jackie freezes when the two walk in. Not out of fear, per se, although she is planning to be cautious. Rather, shock. She’s close to what she’s fought for. Internally, she’s thankful she hid the medallion when she did. And it really hits her in the heart to hear them not even think twice about her being caged. People she grew up around, even emulating, not giving a damn. Hopefully, the case is different for her father.

If it wasn’t? She’d break.

She looks towards Jack for a hint of what to do, but her emotions are high and she responds almost immediately.

 The young girl is hurt, insecure, and desperately clinging to the hope her father will be different. Her only thought was a prayer that Jack didn’t ask how she knew the name of the captain.

“Suppose not,” she replies, anger, venom, and a bit of her own newfound protectiveness over Jack disguising the less “pirate like” emotions, “But we be hung by tomorrah anyway. Waste not, be what Captain Barbossa says? Stay focused on why yer here, rather than waste the Captain’s time and yer breath on dead men. He’d not be pleased about that.”

Whatever deductions have lurked in his subconscious, they surface in Jack’s mind now. She knows Barbossa. She knows him enough to predict his moods. Enough to mimic speech patterns that are all the more alarming as they dawn on him.

But he says nothing of it for now.

“Hanged,” he corrects Jackie, jovially. “We’ll be hanged tomorrow. Though that’s not always a certain thing with me.” His mocking gaze falls upon their visitors. “As the girl says, focus on your own fortunes, gentlemen. The deepest circle of hell is reserved for betrayers and mutineers.”

Koehler rushes the cell and makes a grab for him, a skeletal arm revealed. Jack jerks back in time.

“You know nothing of hell,” Koehler growls. That said, the two free pirates follow Jackie’s suggestion and leave the way they came.

Once they’re out of earshot, Jack casts his newfound daughter a glance. “S’pose we’d best get picking that lock, eh?”

In a vain hope, he whistles for the dog.

Jackie, surprisingly, responds well to the correction. Rather than grow defensive or silent, she smiles good naturedly. For whatever reason, she's growing more comfortable around him.

Perhaps it's being cut off from piracy for so long, that she'd take any half decent pirate for company. Perhaps the earlier revelations. No matter the reason, she's a bit happier.

And then Koehler growls at Jack and reveals the curse.

She doesn't feign surprise, doesn't even gasp. Only shares a look with Twigg, him giving a silent warning not to intervene. Whether it was from genuine care for her safety or just agreeing that Barbossa wouldn't be pleased with wasted time, she isn't certain.

Glaring as they walk away, still not even pretending to be shocked by a curse that turns a man into a monster, she turns to Jack, hoping he's alright.

With his suggestion, a small grin forms.

"Aye, but ye be correct," she tells him as ears perk up, but the animal stays where he is, "That dog not be movin' any time soon."

Times like this I wish I was still with him. Jack'd prove useful right about now, she thinks

Jackie, hearing just a bit more about Jack, becomes enthralled.

She has not heard all of these stories, but a few from her beloved father. She listens carefully, chocolate brown eyes following him.

That, among other things, is what they did for the next few hours as fog blew in and thickened. The only one who knows what this fog means is now here, in a cell. And the only other person who might

A canon roars, freeing the neighboring prisoners, while the two Sparrows remain trapped, albeit with the ability to see outside. Jack and herself recognize the shot to be from the Black Pearl, Jackie from familiarity of the fog, while only the former vocalizes the thought

Amidst the new chaos and screams of those less prepared for what is to come, Jackie hears footsteps. Ones that don’t belong to the sole occupants of the prison.

A silent curse rings out in Jack’s mind as the dog he swears is loyal to Teague goes bounding off out of one of the broken walls. He draws himself up as two pirates arrive from the stairs. Had he cared to pay attention to their names in the past, he would recognise them as Koehler and Twigg, but Jack tends to retain only those who make an impression on him. For now, he eyes them warily in the moments before they notice him. Something protective rises within him concerning Jackie, though he won’t allow it to his tongue.

“This ain’t the armoury,” Twigg huffs.

And then Koehler takes notice, sneering as he approaches.

“Look what we have here, Twigg.”

“Ha! Two little birds in a cage. Looks like old dad wasn’t so dead after all.”

“We could use yers instead,” she countered, scowling but with a glint of pride and amusement in her eyes. She was going to be as snarky or angry as she likes without feeling guilty. After all, he’s not playing nice, either.

 “It be important if yer callin’ me a useless brat yet not be doin’ anything yerself,” she commented, “Asides, if ye be havin’ a plan, an actual plan, it be in me best interest teh help ye.”

Considered a lucky color to have, the gold soul color is never short of achieving their goals and prospering. When she was eight, she tried to sneak in the Navy. Like, get recruited. Her plan was to get recruited and when they ran into pirates or just landed somewhere with less strict anti-piracy laws, she'd leave and join a crew.

When she feels the hand resting on her head, a single tear falls. It has been too long since she’d been held like this. Warmth and arms around her, the smell of rum adding to the unique brand of comfort, it does ease her anxieties slightly. Maybe she won’t be completely alone, even if this doesn’t go how Jack wants it.

This is also the first time she’s truly been allowed to grieve for what she lost last year. She honored, remembered him, but never grieved.

All the emotions from both the current situation and her dead father are quite a lot to handle for a fourteen year old, no matter how mature or self-sufficient she may be.

For once in her life, possibly from his own experience and possibly from the fact that he’s now just a deckhand, she admits. “Nay.”

He’s not aware of the wetness her tear leaves upon his coat, but he is aware of her pain. It’s one he is familiar with, for better or worse, and he carries it like a heavy weight upon his shoulders regardless. James can feel that same weight upon her own, and it makes his chest tighten to know that she carried it with her.

She was too young to be burdened with grief. But then again, wasn’t he?

“You’ve lost someone dear to you, haven’t you?”

He has yet to release his hold on her, and will not do so until he feels the telltale squirm that demands freedom.

Jackie is not entirely aware of the former commodore's grief. But she does know he, at the very least, lost a position quite important to him.

And as such, she can't lie. There's no point. If anything, this could be the closest thing she gets to someone understanding.

"Aye, last year," she practically whispered, voice cracking from the emotion, "Barbossa not be all bad."

Usually, she would squirm away by now. However, she can't. No one has held her since she lost him. The last time anyone did this ended in tragedy for both. He died and she lost the only parent she had known.

“There’s a reason why I’m still living here, though I can’t think of it right now.”

Jackie can't imagine why the vampire told her this, although she's heard plenty of sad and strange statements in her life. And this specific one happens to be eerily similar to her own state of mind.

She's had everything taken before. Not to mention a strange mix of pressures currently. The teenager had only recently struck out on her own. Her last name and both fathers' legacies hang over her head.

With men who are practically legends to live up to, it can be difficult to see why she should even try. Her legacy just an extension of theirs. Her very existence, more often than not, associated with the names of her fathers rather than herself.

If she’s nothing more than an extension of someone else, what’s the point? Yet, she knew there was one. There had to be. 

"Understand the feelin’," she reluctantly offered, surprisingly calm for such a passionate girl, “Suppose all ye be able teh do is keep livin’. Keep up what ye do. Maybe one day, ye find out.”

Jackie had completely planned this out. She'd steal a ship and find her father.

Of course, that required quite a lot of planning and a ship that can be crewed by one twelve year old. Not to mention she had to find Isle de Muerta on her own. With either supplies to last her long enough or easy access to them in order to prevent starvation or dehydration.

She had her eyes set on a small vessel that she'd take to Tortuga, get supplies, and then head to the island. With Rum Runner's Island so close to it, she could feasibly stay alive. At least in her twelve year old mind.

But before she did, she wanted to tell the Blacksmith's apprentice all about her little plan.

Approaching him, she gently tapped his shoulder
