Headcanon on the teams preferred takeaway food? Preferred comfort food? What they like to cook themselves (or make someone cook for them)?
hi im gonna answer this years later bc why not, my brain worms are back
soul: i can see soul preferring to cook and if im not mistaken we see that in canon? probably cooks a lot of pastas and italian food. i hc him as coming from the upper east coast and he seems to be fairly familiar with italy so i wouldn’t be surprised if there were family trips out there. but he does also enjoy local cafè fare and is secretly a coffee snob. he’ll take you to a spot he swears has the only good cappuccino.
maka: i think she’s a big fan of breakfast food and pastries. she can cook fairly well! i can see breakfast being the time her family would occasionally actually come together, like maybe spirit and kamiko would cook together sometimes. tamagoyaki with a very non-traditional side of mini pancakes and bacon is a big comfort meal for her.
b*star: big fan of snacks and instant food, but he probably tries to keep it somewhat balanced for his fitness’s sake. like dude is probably getting a bunch of those packs of premade grilled chicken and eating those thru the week. i can definitely see him having no patience for cooking though. sometimes when they were younger he and maka would walk to the convenience store late at night and grab snacks, so he has an affinity for shitty gas station nachos and beef jerky sticks.
tsubaki: traditional japanese food, something we don’t get a lot of in Nevada. there aren’t really many if any hints as to what region of japan she comes from, so it’s hard to name a particular dish for her! given her family’s strict regimens, i can’t imagine her diet had much variation. but i could see her really missing sweets, like her clan’s regional wagashi variant that they’d make in the spring. i could see sweets reminding her of the few times her childhood felt like a childhood.
kid: a bit of an interesting case since he’s a reaper, but his father did purposefully make him human. so i assume he needs to eat lol. what would lord death even have fed him? would he know what he needs? so many questions lol. i could see him being picky for a lot of textures, and probably likes the breadsticks most when liz and patti get pizza. maybe he’s a bread fiend. this one actually stumped me.
liz: she’s a takeout girlie and maybe a bit of a foodie these days, she has access to so much that she had to fight for before. i can see her favorite spot being the taco truck next to one of the few concert venues in death city, where she and soul would fuel up before checking out the next show (i see them being total besties and interested in the local music scene). tacos al pastor with just a little more hot sauce than she can handle.
patti: you’d assume you shouldn’t let her near a kitchen, but i could see her liking to learn to cook just a little bit. that said her alltime favorite food is a good new york style pizza, it reminds her of the place that’d give her and her sister a free slice when they can. loaded with as much red pepper flake as possible.
crona: also an interesting case, i can’t imagine their nutrition was anywhere near sufficient as a child so they probably are overwhelmed by the choices they have now. personally i think they like the finger foods that were served at the dwma gala, since that was the first positive social event they’ve ever went to. tiny tea cakes and pigs in a blanket hold a special place in their heart.
