❝ DID HE, NOW ? ❞
Say what you want about the PIZZA RAT or that weirdly well - dressed Central Park duck : New York City’s biggest pest problem is SPIDERS, apparently.
❝ Listen, some guy trying to KNOCK OVER the Fifty - Third Street 7-11 is really, really not my problem. So, mazel tov. He’s ALL YOURS. ❞ Do you know how much the NYPD MAKES, KID ? And they’re union ! S.H.I.E.L.D. has bigger fish to fry, and Sharon Carter’s not even getting paid time - and - a - half for it. She produces her badge with a tired flick of the wrist. ❝ — — Nice work. ❞
HER TONE WAS SKEPTICAL, but Gwen just gave a sheepish grin that was covered by her mask. However, she was expecting harsh criticism and bracing for it. No, the petty thief wasn’t a big problem, but Spider-Woman couldn’t help but explain, “The shop owner’s a nice guy,” as if that increased its importance. And to Gwen, it did. The next compliment surprised her, as did the badge. Her run-ins with S.H.I.E.L.D. agents was usually even less civil. “Well, thanks.”
