Is this list too niche?
fun fact: Asō Shūichi personally added this scene of Kusuo reacting to Teruhashi’s POV to the anime (it wasn’t in the manga)
And this was the only scene in the episode that was changed, rather than expanded, so he purposefully made SaiTeru even more canon than it already was
damn can i just reblog one of my old discoveries.. WHAT
I live, laugh, love, breathe, and eat Terusai / Saiteru, and although it's a pretty popular shipped, it's basically hated by 50% of the fandom, ESPECIALLY people who didn't watch past Season 1 bcs Season 2 wasn't dubbed (if you're one of those people, you are MISSING OUT)
So here are some reasons why I ship Terusai and think it's one of the most canon ships we have (DNI if you genuinely despise the ship, do interact if you like it / wanna know why people ship it)
turtle neck and suit combo (grasping at straws)
Another SaiTeru thing that gives me life!
Honestly? If you ask me, this right here is another clear indicator of all the SaiTeru development and of where Saiki stands in regards to Teruhashi by the end of the manga.
After all, this is the final group illustration and it pays a lot of attention to detail. It really does its best to capture everyone’s characters and dynamic.
For example, here you have Nendou’s mom looking at Kouta with a smile on her face, possibly hinting that she may give him another chance in the future. And at the same time, you have Nendou’s Ghost Dad with his eyes fixed on her.
Meanwhile, Saiki’s Grandpa is glaring daggers at Kuniharu because how dare he stand between his daughter and his grandson, that should be his place!
And here you have Rifuta blushing up a storm because she’s standing right behind Makoto. All while Hairo’s enthusiasm is causing Suzumiya to be almost hidden from the picture. Luckily Satou remains unaffected by her bad luck. Then, of course, Takahashi greedily eyeing Saiko’s money because some things never change.
No matter where you look, the cover is full of awesome, meaningful details.
And then you have Saiki and Teruhashi, front and center. And it’s obvious that something has changed.
Teruhashi is grabbing his shoulder and leaning on him in a way she’s never done in the manga. What’s more, Saiki is perfectly fine letting this happen and looks content reaching out to the audience. This is pretty big, because while Teruhashi looks a little nervous, it still establishes that SaiTeru have become pretty close.
But if you ask me, it also hints that they’ll become even closer. Because look at Chiyo. Chiyo, who would’ve normally been trying to stand close to Kaidou, looks thrilled to be where she is. Staring at Teruhashi comfortably leaning on Saiki’s shoulder with a happy, approving smile on her face. The kind of face that says, You did it, Kokomi!
So yeah, to me everything about this cover screams Yes, Saiki and Teruhashi are going to get together eventually. And what do you know, Saiki is pretty okay with that lol
SaiTeru: birds of a feather
Since I can’t seem to shut up about SaiTeru, another thing I ended up loving about them is how similar they are, despite how different they act.
I mean, sure, Saiki hates drawing attention to himself while Teruhashi revels in it. And while Teruhashi sees her gifts as a present, Saiki spends the majority of the series seeing them as a curse.
But that’s what makes it hilarious that, when you get past that, you realize they have more in common than Teruhashi could ever guess and are much more similar than Saiki would care to admit.
Here are some of my favorite similarities!
1. They’re both pretty conceited, but it’s 100% justified
Saiki considers himself a whole different species above normal humans, states that his own knowledge is enough to get full points on any exam, etc. And the thing is… he’s absolutely right. Similarly, Teruhashi is certain she’s the most beautiful girl and loved by God, states over and over that her mere presence is capable of brightening up people’s days. And she’s… absolutely right.
2. They’re both pretty competitive, though they’d rather not show it
They’re both used to be at the top of their respective food-chains, and it shows. Teruhashi doesn’t hesitate to (subtly) reaffirm her superiority whenever challengers arise. And Saiki? He may try to act like he’s above that now, but his first words showed that being competitive is in his very nature: “I… I’m second place…?”
And the hilarious thing is that, when he was little, Saiki did like drawing attention to himself and showing-off! It’s thanks to his mother’s warnings that he embraces the fact that drawing attention to his powers isn’t a good idea, and he ends up developing the opposite fixation: to be perfectly average.
More similarities below the cut!

BONUS:
Saiki is so fucking cute when he gets angry on Teruhashi's behalf 😭
Seriously though, Saiki in The Disastrous Life of Kokomi Teruhashi is at his most ridiculous ever.
Teruhashi wanted to go and drink a shake with him. So Saiki being Saiki, he makes sure she won't get to ask him out.
Except he just... turns invisible and goes with her anyway?
He doesn't have a shake of his own because of his clownery, so he just... goes and drinks from Teruhashi's straw?
Like if Teruhashi would've gotten to invite him, she would have bought Saiki his own shake. But no, here goes Saiki making things worse for himself and giving Teruhashi more than she would've even bargained for.
Then, when Teruhashi stands-up, he follows her and stands so close to her for absolutely no reason whatsoever, that Teruhashi almost accidentally touches him?
Plus, what's up with his thoughts?
Does he even realize how ridiculous he sounds here? He's the one who's getting involved with her right now. He could've just saved himself the trouble, bought himself a shake and drank it at home. Teruhashi didn't even get to invite him, he invited himself.
THEN, to top all this off, he looks all smug when Teruhashi notices she's missing some of her shake??
Sir?? What do you even have to be smug about? She just wanted to drink a shake with you and you not only did that, you also gave her an Indirect Kiss™?
He is such a tsundere that he willingly just went on a date with Teruhashi, yet he still acts like it's a win for him because Teruhashi didn't realize he was there. LMAO. 😂
fun fact: Asō Shūichi personally added this scene of Kusuo reacting to Teruhashi’s POV to the anime (it wasn’t in the manga)
And this was the only scene in the episode that was changed, rather than expanded, so he purposefully made SaiTeru even more canon than it already was
ok hear me out. what if saiki catching teruhashi's valentines chocolate that one episode actually symbolizes how he won't let her give up on him/her feelings for him despite constantly claiming he wants it to happen
maybe not even saiki himself knows why he feels that way
she threw it away because she thought "my feelings will hurt him my fans will hurt him" then he just caught it and probably ate it afterwards anyway!!!!!! because he doesnt care!!!!!!
What are the odds that two people who were worshipped as a god at some point in their lives would meet in (not just one) timeline, and become more than just friends
I love how SaiTeru is the perfect example of “If they couldn’t speak would their actions make you feel loved?”
