that one post about the "fandom barrier reef theory" and how it's more interesting to write about half-baked garbage with lots of plot holes than it is to write about something that's absolutely perfect also describes songwriting pretty well. i can get a song about the one character i like in a terrible show done in a couple days but trying to write a song about something objectively fucking good and interesting is a way more daunting task. it's like...i can't expand on things.

i tend to latch onto characters with very little backstory but a lot of potential, so when i get obsessed with a character who actually DOES have an established backstory and whatnot i'm like "shit what do i do with this" and scare myself into not writing anything

"go to hell" is basic. "i hope your favorite character is part of a ship that's so popular it's near impossible to find art or fic of them alone or with someone else" is real. it's happened to me twice. and both times i've fucking hated the person they shipped my guy with.

I think some of the loneliness of autism is that you feel like you hurt people just by Interacting Wrong, but you don’t know how to Interact Right, and the more effort you put into it, the more exhausted you are and the more artificial it comes across (with the end result of people still being upset with you). and it’s not anyone’s fault for not liking Being Interacted With Wrong, and it’s not your fault for doing it so wrong, but it is very, very lonely.
