     Jaime silently appreciated that she wasn’t using her weapons. He could boast all he wanted but when it came down to it, he knew she was better at hand to hand than he was. His armor alone would at least give him a bit of an advantage.

     “Whatever you want señorita. Now let’s tango.”

          The girl nods, getting in a fighting stance. “Go on. I’ll even let you have the first move.” She shouldn’t be so cocky, but honestly, she wouldn’t be Artemis Crock if she wasn’t. “Better make it a good one, might be the only one you get.”

She was making him nervous. Maybe everything was okay and he was just being a creep, but her being on edge set him off as well. “With amazing acts like yours it’s easy to enjoy. Your act was pretty badass ‘nd all, but I got a special love for the tigers. So the animal act was my favorite.” He made sure to keep his voice low as not to let the Boss hear him cussing.

She’s good a reading people, one of the other things her dearest father taught her. She knows she’s making the kid nervous and she understands, she is being strange. The blonde forces herself to relax, an actual smile tugging at her lips when she hears he had a love for tigers. “Yeah? Me too. I love the tigers. When I first joined the circus, one of the trainers let me help take care of a baby one, she was one of the one’s that you saw tonight.”

          “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Ollie gets plenty of spoiling, too. He might not be my godson, but he’s still my favorite nephew.”

          She beams back at the woman seated across from her, feeling overjoyed, and maybe, just maybe, the slightest tinge of jealousy. But she buries it down deep, because this is Artemis’ moment and not hers. 

          “How far along are you? Does Ollie know? Is he excited?”

          “Oh, I have no doubts about that either.” M’gann was one of Ollie’s favorite people, he didn’t have to tell Artemis that, she just knew.

           “A few weeks. And Steph and I haven’t told him quite yet, we know he’s going to be telling everyone once he does know, but we asked him beforehand how he’d feel about having a little brother or sister and he seemed pretty excited about it.”

He didn’t want to talk to the people who were given money by Bruce. They always had an air of careful strain as not to upset the powerful billionaire. And of course, he was forced to remain happy and smiling politely by his side when all he really wanted to do was sneak back and see the tigers. “Yeah, s’cool.” He shrugged a little unsure of what to say to the woman. While it was very impressive and her archery work could match Oliver’s it was hard fo a circus to match up with the rest of his activities.

Master of noticing when people were on edge he shifted unhappily, mimicking her stance.“You good, Blondie?” Pure Gothamite accent dripping into his voice.

The girl has to force herself to keep the smile on her face, the accent far too close to home, thankfully she’d lost her’s a long time ago, years of practice giving ‘Diane Danger’ an actual completely different identity from the little broken runaway from Gotham she’d once been. She was glad for it too and the quicker they left this hellish city, the happier she’d be.

“Yes, thank you. I’m fine.” She replies, keeping Diane’s carefully composed facade up. “I’m glad you enjoyed the show. What was your favorite part?” Can we please just leave, like now?

The Dangers were practicing their act, just like all of the other acts. They had a big show tonight, had to be ready to impress Bruce Wayne apparently. That’s not what was bothering Diane though. No, what was bothering her, was the fact that a woman was lurking around their practicing area and after loosing the arrow she’d had loaded on her bow, she turns to the woman, giving her a tight smile. 

“Can I help you with something?”

          Her heart swells as she clasps both hands around Artemis’ one, blinking fast to try and keep the tears welling in her eyes at bay. For a second it’s hard to speak, so she just goes with nodding her head a little too enthusiastically. 

          “I don’t know what to say, Artemis. You can’t know what this means to me.” She pauses, a quiet laugh passing through her lips. “I’m going to be the best godmother ever. I promise. Anything you need – both of you – I’m there, okay?”

          Artemis smiles, placing her free hand over both of M’gann’s. She was glad the martian girl was so happy about it, she’d hoped she would be. 

          “Oh, I have no doubts about you being the best godmother ever. This baby is going to be spoiled so rotten, Ollie’s going to seem like a perfect mannered prince compared to them.” She says with a soft chuckle.

Artemis Diane was not happy to be back in Gotham, an overwhelming sense of uneasiness had settled over the archer the very moment the train had left for the place she’d grown up. If her dad found her, she was in so much trouble. So she was in a hurry to leave, move on to the next city, unfortunately Bruce Wayne had made some sort of large donation to the circus and Haly had insisted that after the show all of the acts took the time to speak with Bruce and his kid Jason to show them how appreciative of the money. 

The two twins take care of most of the talking as Diane tries to calm down, turning her focus to the boy beside the man and giving him a small smile.

“Did you enjoy the show?”
