The BAU team raced against time, every second feeling like a lifetime. The brutal serial killer they were hunting had taken too many lives, and the last victim, you, was out there somewhere, clinging to life. Derek Morgan, with his stubborn determination, led the charge. His heart pounded in his chest as they closed in on the location provided by Garcia's quick cyber-tracking.
As they entered the run-down warehouse, Derek's eyes scanned the area, desperate to find her. He was in front of everyone gun in hand, the unsub was quick to be found sitting at his desk, writing something on a piece of paper, still unaware of the police's presence. When they finally engaged Emily handcuffed him and asked where the last captive was, the unsub pointed towards the basement, Derek raced to the door opened it, and went down the stairs. His heart skipped a beat when he saw her, bound and unconscious, but alive. With a gentle touch, he untied her and lifted her into his arms, whispering soothing words, promising her safety. She stirred slightly, her eyes fluttering open to meet his.
"You're safe now," Derek said, his voice full of conviction. "I've got you." He carried you outside to the ambulance and set you down on the stretcher, taking the ride to the hospital with you. At the hospital, Derek stayed by your side, ensuring you received the best care. He watched as the doctors and nurses worked, never leaving you alone. There was something about your courage…your will to survive, that struck a chord deep within him.
The next day, taking a break from the hospital, without a new case, Derek returns to his office to write his report for the last case. As he started writing down everything that had happened his thoughts drifted back to you… "Hey, Derek, you okay?" Penelope Garcia's voice brought him out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he replied, though he knew Garcia saw right through him.
"You know, it's okay to care," she said softly. "You saved her life, but maybe there's more you need to do."
Her words lingered in his mind. Garcia was right. There was a puzzling connection he felt with you, and he couldn't just walk away. With Garcia's help, he got your contact information and started to check on you regularly.
At first, the calls were simple 'checking on you'. "Just wanted to see how you're doing," he'd say. But soon, your conversations became more deep. You talked about everything—her recovery, his work, the shared experiences of pain and strength. Derek started looking forward to their talks, feeling a sense of peace and happiness he hadn't felt in a long time.
Each visit to you, even after you were out of the hospital became the highlight of his week. He'd bring flowers or a book he thought you'd like. You two would sit and talk for hours, laughing and sharing stories. Your courage and positivity were admirable to him. Garcia, ever the matchmaker, kept nudging him. "You need to take her out, show her a good time. Let that connection thrive," she'd say with a wink.
Finally, Derek mustered the courage to ask you out. The following night he was at your place again, you two talking and laughing…feeling like you have so much to share that all the time in the world seemed like it wasn't enough. "How about we grab a coffee sometime?" he suggested, trying to sound casual despite his nerves.
"I'd love that," you replied with a smile that made his heart skip a beat.
Their first date was at a cozy café, a perfect spot for an uncertain beginning. Derek arrived early, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. When you walked in, glowing, all his anxieties melted away. You sat down across from him, ordered drinks, and began to talk.
At first, the conversation was cautious, but soon you found the usual rhythm. You laughed about the oddities of their favorite TV shows, shared stories from their past, and talked about their dreams and fears. Derek, who was used to being the tough guy, found himself opening up in ways he never expected.
"You know, I've always been the protector," he confessed. "But with you, I feel like I can be myself, not just the guy who saves the day."
You reached across the table, taking his hand in yours. "And I feel safe with you, Derek. More than I have in a long time."
As their first date came to an end, Derek walked you to your car under the soft glow of the streetlights. The night air was cool, carrying the faint scent of flowers, and their laughter from inside the café still lingered in the air. You reached your car, and for a moment, an almost shy silence settled between both of you. Derek, feeling a sudden rush of nerves, scratched the back of his neck and smiled. "I had a great time tonight," he said softly, his voice filled with genuine warmth. You stepped closer, your eyes reflecting the same mixture of excitement and vulnerability. "Me too, Derek." Without another word, he leaned in, breaths mingling, and as your lips met his, it was as if the world around you faded away. The kiss was gentle at first, then deepened, filled with the promise of something beautiful. When you finally pulled apart, both breathless…foreheads touching, Derek whispered, "This feels right." you nodded, your smile mirroring his. "It does."
The relationship grew, each date deepening your bond. Derek's teammates noticed the change in him. He was happier and more relaxed. Even Hotch commented on it one day. "It's good to see you smiling, Morgan," he said with a rare grin.
Garcia, of course, took full credit. "I told you, sometimes you just need to take a leap of faith," she said, hugging Derek tightly. You and Derek continued to build a future together. Supporting each other through the ups and downs, finding strength in shared experiences. Derek learned to let down his guard, to be vulnerable, and in return, he found a love deeper than he'd ever known.
The journey wasn't always easy. There were moments of doubt, of fear, especially as you continued to recover from the trauma. But Derek was there for her every step of the way, just as you were there for him.
One evening, as they walked through a park hand in hand, Derek stopped and looked at you. "You know, I never thought I'd find someone like you," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "Someone who makes me want to be a better man."
You smiled, her eyes shining with love. "And I never thought I'd find someone who makes me feel this safe, this loved….even from the first minute I opened my eyes and saw you…"
This journey had brought them together in ways neither of you had expected. From a brutal beginning to a beautiful love story, you and Derek found in each other what they had been searching for all along…a partner, an intimate, and a love that could weather any storm.
As you stood together on yet another date, watching the sunset over the horizon, Derek knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, you would face them together. Because in you, he had found not just a survivor, but a soulmate. And that was a victory greater than any he had ever known…
