No but on a serious note, I recently moved house, found a new job and have discovered some important mental health things I'm adjusting to.

So it may take me longer than usual to get/complete my orders, and until I'm able to find a balance that works best my commissions slot for Next Month are closed.

How do you approach drawing/breaking down a character's hairstyle??

I kind of just treat it like any organic shape, sometimes I map out the distinguishing key notes, and build or carve out the shape as I go along, a lot of trial and error. Sometimes if I’m stumped or I don’t like how it came out I’ll look up comic art I’ve collected to get inspiration.

Other times I try to nail the general look, like it’s very complex like whisping or twirling hair I kinda just place my bets that not everyone is going to be counting every single strand.

Men’s hair, or closely cropped hair is much easier for me, I keep the hairline, hair parts or flops of hair in the front defined by using a zig zag motions, hatching or going back and highlighting bits.

this is all really rushed but I hope it helps illustrate what I mean? There are a lot of hair textures out there though, never feel bad about pulling up several references. Could be real life pictures, could be artists you like and are trying to take pointers from, could be a cheat sheet off Pinterest or something.
