A love letter to the Bylers

Conformitygate may not have happened but I feel like everyone involved should still feel immense pride and hope.

It’s beautiful that all of this movement started from the queer community shipping byler. Even with yk the cringe GA that erased byler from conformitygate, this whole movement was still started by us!!

People may compare this to Klance or the lost episode of Sherlock but no! They walked so we could run, they created a ripple, we created a wave. Crashed Netflix and embarrassed the homophobic writers in front of the entire audience and Netflix. And just maybe, the next time we get dragged along for profit like this, we get them for good as well.

This has been beautiful🥹 I may be running on 3 hours of sleep and delirium from having an exam tmr morning but thank you all for the fun procrastination and interesting theories. Y’all are cool and proved that your voices and opinions do matter, gn🙏

My two cents on mileven

Mileven has always seemed a bit of a weird ship to me (and not bcs of Byler although I did become a truther during the last season).

The whole concept of Eleven being raised in a lab, having no concept of the outside world and then getting into a relationship with the first person she sees in the woods who she’ll be literally dependent on?? Idk it always kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I love platonic mileven! I think that’s great but having a character be with someone she’d depend on fully (esp a girl protagonist) (esp having depended and controlled by people her whole life) didn’t quite sit right with me.

That’s why I think her whole arc with Max and Hopper were done beautifully, she got to grow up while also having the freedom to figure out herself. So to me it made sense that in S5 she must have broken up with Mike offscreen, since they barely made any romantic gestures towards each other besides caring hugs which would have also made sense platonically.

So for the story to end with her killing herself and also only lingering to send a message to Mike just felt backwards?

NOT TO MENTION, this whole ending already happened in season 1. She disappeared for the “sake of others” and Mike thought she was dead. Like isn’t her whole arc supposed to be about, no she doesn’t have to disappear off the face of the earth.

Whatever, y’all have turned me into a conformitygate truther even if another episode doesn’t come out, I can still believe the finale isn’t correct.

hiii idk really how often people promote stuff like this on tumblr but I feel like it’s worth a shot :,))

Me and my friends came out with our first EP! The songs are in Estonian and if you’re interested in checking out a piece of the Estonian indie “underground”, any stream is appreciated a ton <33

I also designed the cover art ! It features different lyrics from the songs AND regarding the newspaper “kes” cutouts - I searched them all up individually in Estonian newspaper archives online ! It’s very important to me to write songs in Estonian but I would also love for it to reach international ears as well <33 (bcs I personally love music in different languages) Soo uhhhh in case there’s anyone interested outside of Estonia, here’s some context about the songs - bassiving. - the name itself is just a jumble of words and the lyrics themselves begin to get absurd. Basically ramblings about the beauty standards - “Beauty is a question, which doesn’t answer to rules” “Dry skin, eyebags, scratched shoulders - the stork didn’t bring those.” interluud. - an instrumental intro featuring an old soviet cartoon’s estonian dub in the background ! pank. - a silly song filled with a lot of nursery rhyme references. The title translates to “bank.” and the main line is “the bank took the kids”. Silly song about having to grow up basically. (võsa.) - this one’s a love song! The main chorus and the title translate roughly to “I drank wine in the bushes”. It’s an unrequited love song basically, filled with a bunch of nature images. aaaand finally aeg seisab. - The title translates to “time stands still”. It’s a song filled with a lot of questions and fear regarding self and change. “Time stands still, were you you? was I me?” “Everything new is strange and we can’t take candy from a stranger” If you actually read all of this, first of all thank you so much!
