“There’s not much that can be said about Fana’s life, up until now; trekking all over the continent they call home, through silk-laden mountains, shadowy forests, pristine ocean shores and overgrown swamps. As a matter of fact, the well-traveled snake barely even had a name, before they were rescued from a heretic’s altar by a mysterious, crown-wielding feline. He invites them back to his home, to the Cult of The Lamb where his Shepherd of Death promises shelter within their flock. Fana accepts his proposal, but it isn’t long after they arrive that they realize that strange happenings seem to be unfolding around them, and that the very fate of the cult may rest in their hands…”

But yaaaayy it’s that time of the year again!! Back when Woolhaven first came out it stirred some of my creative juices enough to finally put this story idea into words!! And the fact that I first started writing this when the dlc dropped and I just now wrapped up writing the first part should tell you how extensive of a fic this is going to be (hopefully) 😳

For most of their life, Fana was nothing more than a wandering vagabond, learning how to survive in the wilds and avoiding civilization when they could as they learned very early on that being different here might as well have been damnation; almost everywhere they went, creatures commented on their peculiar eye-like patterning all over their body or the small horns which sprouted from their head, with motivations ranging from the curious to the cruel. So they learned how to hide away, how to keep to the shadows, how to keep themself safe from those who may wish them harm. Was it easy? Maybe not, but they hadn’t died yet…
…at least, until they catch the attention of a group of hunters. They manage to escape, briefly, before they’re tracked down again and nearly pay with their life. But right as they think they’re about to meet their end, they’re saved by a creature maybe even stranger than them, a black cat with a veil to hide his face and a scythe to slice down heretics. After introducing himself as Narinder, he invites Fana back to the temple of his god, known as The Lamb. They offer the snake something they’ve never known: a stable home, where they never have to fear judgement or suspicion ever again. They accept the offer, is indoctrinated into the cult, and now has to begin navigating sedentary life. It isn’t long before they start encountering obstacles to their smooth introduction however; and far from the normal struggles one may face in a new environment, these seem to spell doom not only for themselves, but for all of the followers who worship The Lamb…
