Remember 4 months ago when the CEO of this platform harassed and chased a trans woman off this website just for posting her transition timeline, then chased her to other social media platforms to continue harassing her, and threatened to call the FBI if she continued disputing the multiple dubious terminations of her blogs that did not violate tumblr's terms of service in any way? And despite tumblr staff insisting that the CEO was acting against their interests, the broad transmisogyny evident in the site's culture and moderation policy has still not been adequately addressed?

the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.

Wow, I didn’t expect this post to blow up. It’s been a while since I’ve made an update but here goes:

Basically the thing chewed its way out of her and she spent 3 days dealing with some postpartum stuff, but it’s all good now. We did tell her about her friend and she freaaaaked out on him, but some time has passed and things calmed down a bit. He got her dad involved, it was a whole mess. Now he won’t leave my house and he keeps calling himself my son-in-law.

I know it’s probably not the update you guys were looking for, but we’re making it work and he promises not to touch the kid until she’s 7.
