Ecellyon is a vast continent caught in a tumultuous state of transition from a magic-ruled Fae dominant civilization, to one now forced to share with humans and their ever-developing technology. A changeling-led war on humankind has driven a wedge of instability and unease among Fae and humans alike, despite the efforts of the cities who have welcomed both cultures with open arms. It's not difficult to imagine how easily one can feel outcast from either society. Wilson Briar Thomas III has seen the horrors of humans first-hand. Born and raised in The Circus of Terror, Wilson spent the first fifteen years of his life being exploited and abused for the amusement of others. His time within The Circus of Terror ended abruptly and violently, leaving him physically and emotionally scarred. Eleven years have passed since the incident, and Wilson has spent his young adult years within the human stronghold of Merdell City, known for its innovation of steam-powered technology, medical advancements, and its distrust of Fae. While he has recovered physically from his past, emotionally it was never a subject that was far from his mind, and he never felt as if he fit in with the people of Merdell. Just as Wilson finds himself in a comfortable position amongst his peers, life throws another curveball and he is once again thrown into the unexpected. Great loss, love, and a looming threat follow Wilson as he searches for his place in the world while hoping to bring a bit of light to others in the dark and uncertain times facing Ecellyon.
This was a drawing challenge I did inspired hy Drawfee's inverted colour challenge where you draw&colour a whole picture eyeballing/estimating what colours are the inverse of the ones you want, so when you invert it it will be (ideally) how you originally planned on it looking!
So the first pic is what I drew&fully rendered, and then when I finished it I inverted it&got the 2nd as a result, which is pretty close to the canon colour palettes(but it's all a bit cool tone tinted). It's a fun but challenging brain exercise haha
yes critical analysis of media is super valuable but I think suspension of disbelief isn't practiced enough

A lil art dump, finished pic and working-backwards WIP shots! To colour the lineart I did a clipping layer above it&filled with a pink from my palette&used some layer setting to colourize it to my liking. Not included are the several other sketches between that initial one&the lineart lol
Absolutely fucking horrific that the general public wound up hearing about monkeypox in gay people first and thinks it's an STD or specifically gay disease. It's not deadly like HIV but this obviously mirrors that, except the fact it isn't a fucking STD at all, or even limited to physical contact. It can infect you anywhere, make blisters anywhere, and leave active virus on any porous enough material. Clothing, rugs, towels, seat cushions, not only are people using it for another LGBT witch hunt but they genuinely don't know their whole families could get it from shopping, seeing a movie, anything.
The last outbreak was from pets, specifically rodents and rabbits, but contained at about 50 cases. This time there's a couple thousand cases getting worse because most people weren't told what it actually is or how it spreads and half the country now just thinks diseases in general are liberal hoaxes or whatever the fuck they think. America is a shithole.

I once read a fanfiction about man-eating selkies and it described the selkie as “not having malice in its eyes” which is perfect because A) it means the thing trying to chew your leg off looks like this:
