there's a reason my favourite poly ship ever is from iron widow and its just because it was set up like a fucking love triangle and i could never tell who exactly my girl Zetian would end with. like it was the classic who will our protagonist (who uses she/hers pronouns for ease and not because she's actually a women but you won't know this till later in the book) choose: her rich childhood best friend who would sacrifice everything including his life and more importantly his money for her or the soft hearted war criminal who she is forced to team up with because he is the only person who won't die because of how strong her qi is.

and you know i was dreading the moment she would have to choose between them because I fucking hate love triangles but suddenly my babygirl Yizhi is fanboying over Shimin and I'm like waitttttt do THEY end up together????? Tell me they end up together!!! and then it turns around and they're both doting over zetian? like the bisexual part of me who crushes on both boys and girls at the same time but didn't know it could date them at the same time just fucking began to scream. like I died and ascended to a higher plane (if you got that joke then kudos to you).

of course then my soul died a second time because I learned the sequel will release in April but honestly good for xiran to refuse to work on heavenly tyrant because publishing didn't pay them enough money to live on and instead work on things that will actually feed them. ill just reread my iron widow ebook and wait for the physical copy (that I now finally have enough money to buy! thank you to various relatives for funding my need to buy queer books. i will probably see you again next diwali) to arrive!
