What did I learn in 2020? If you don’t get quiet when God says, “messy, be quiet,” a world can lock down and say “aaahhhhhggggrrrggghhh” and then ... the whisper a soft, “ahhhhhhh.” Nature was built to resist the unnatural; it was built to heal and care for itself. It knows when to change migration patterns and senses when something is about to change. Nature sings when you are simply a part of it. Also when you are ready; after you’ve been quiet, you can hear the concert turn into each separate instrument. You will appreciate the fullness of each in part and whole. Nature is the strongest and most reailient and majestic force there is. On Earth, each element afforded has essential and divine purpose. This year some elements have sped up, and some have slowed down considerably. Some have been halted and some removed. Technology, I have learned, is an unnatural element. It is what we use to either appreciate or escape nature. It should be used with extreme caution. And it should take the smallest space in a natural life. Or one day you will find, it’s all that is left. I am having a moment because, “art supplies.” I walk out to the kitchen and say, “Is it wrong to stuff half of the trailer bedroom wardrobe with art supplies? Asking for a friend.” The Marine says without hesitation, “No.” Now I don’t know that I’m still not paring down enough but that my friends is true love. Recognition, I’m trying to let go as absolutely as possible but art supplies and collected pieces of nature are my hardest let go. Every time. Every — single — time. What does it meeeaannnn? When I wake up tired and my neck hurts my smile lines are a challenge to find. But as with any of Gods works of creativity or construction, softening the edges and slow strokes of weathered patina or primary colors and a little prayer and stardust can make a big difference. Sometimes when I’m awake too early, instead of watching TV or reading a book, I read posts in social network groups. I do not pretend that this is sane or reasonable action — it comes from being awake and too lazy to do anything truly constructive and little interest in tv or real focus on truly reading a book. Today I prayed as I got up and then again prayed after a post caught my attention. It was of the “why do random people give [this advice] to people [asking for advice]....” Being unable to let go of random concerns and shaking the tree for reason is something I have some experience with. This spirit comes out only by prayer and fasting. So once again I did honestly consider the question and pray for guidance and here’s what came to mind — You seem to be interested in crowd surfing - in different groups/threads — for questions/answers that can only honestly be explained or answered by God or the person(s) who would seek the advice or interest of a host of random strangers or casual acquaintance in the first place. In my experience, if you’re crowd surfing — for advice, recommendation or explanations you’re honestly getting some return on what YOU invested in. Wise counsel has suggested — Jessie, you’ve been getting returns on what YOU invest all along — and continued returns honestly based on your own investments — fellowship, spiritual attitude, experience and knowledge gained therefrom and of course your own actions resulting. I love waking before sunrise. The birds all sing the most beautiful symphony to the rising of the sun. As I sit with my first cup of coffee of the day, I consider what Vivaldi must have been inspired by to Compose his Four Seasons. What it was for Monet to sit at the side of the lake staring into the water which inspired his beautiful water lilies and for Georgia O’Keefe to paint her beautiful red canna and calla lilies. I walk with a slight skipping beat in the woods — in hand and heart with the Spirit in which Gwen Frostic must have skipped too as she collected the sketches that became her iconic wood block prints. It is the Spirit of Creation and I’m grateful that I can see and feel it’s musings in sight and sinew — even as I experience the creaking joinings of well-worn age. Creative musings are ageless — the Spirit of Creation is ever appreciated. As we may capture only a brief reflection, our heart sings and we grow ever more appreciative too — chasing the musings of life and love. Come Holy Spirit. Fill us to overflowing. Teach us to ever appreciate Your muses — Your creation.
