Broom Cupboard
A spontaneous little thing for the @hinnyfest, prompt 5: A Missing HBP Moment. A tiny bit NSFW.
In the days after the Quidditch final, Ginny eventually had to admit to the Captain that she had stolen the Quaffle. Thankfully, he’d laughed.
‘How?’ he said admiringly. ‘How did you manage to walk off with that with no one noticing?’
‘I’m sure people noticed, but if you walk off with something with enough confidence, no one notices.’
‘Amazing,’ said Harry.
‘So can I keep it?’
‘No, Madam Hooch gave me such a lecture at the start of the year about replacing lost Quidditch balls.’
‘I was hoping we could all sign it and sell it off to the highest bidder,’ she said. ‘The team, I mean. Not you, you’re not well known enough.’
‘Of course I’m not,’ he replied, grinning. ‘Wasn’t even there, was I?’
‘Harry Potter who? I think you mean the stand in Captain until Ginny Weasley was ready.’
‘I’m sure that’s exactly what people have been saying, but even so, we have to return it to the store room.’
‘You’ve been hanging around with Hermione too long.’
‘Also true, but the point still stands. Walk down with me after dinner? We could go round the lake after.’
‘Go on then,’ she said, as though he had given her a tedious chore. ‘I’ll meet you there - enjoy transfiguration.’
‘Get through potions,’ he advised her cheerfully, and they kissed goodbye before parting ways, he heading to McGonagall’s classroom, she descending the steps into the gloom of Snape’s classroom.
She brought the Quaffle with her to dinner, placing it on the table between them, trying a last ditch attempt to persuade him to let her keep it. ‘Hooch won’t notice until next year.’
‘I’ll still be there then. So will you.’
‘We can blame it on the Ravenclaws. She’ll believe they’re sore losers, I’m sure.’
‘Like you said, people will have seen you walking off with it.’
‘He’s right, Ginny,’ Ron said. ‘You and Demelza were throwing it to each other across the common room.’
‘And if anyone snitches, I’ll see they regret it.’
But eventually, she had to concede that they were right; besides which it looked to be a glorious evening, and she was looking forward to precious time alone with Harry walking around the edge of the lake, rather than another painful few hours revising for OWLs.
They strolled down to the stadium, passing the Quaffle lazily back and forth to each other as they chatted. A murmur of starlings were dancing in the golden sky, the surface of the lake glistened.
At the doors that led to the changing rooms and store cupboard, Harry reached into his pocket for the keys granted to him by Madam Hooch.
‘When do you have to give those back?’ Ginny asked. ‘Do you get to keep them even out of season?’
‘Oh, er… I suppose so. She hasn’t asked for them back anyway.’ He hesitated, and she wondered if he was thinking the same thing she was. But he said nothing, and opened the door. It was fair enough, really, she thought as they were hit with the smell of leather and slightly stale air. They had only really been dating for three absolutely wonderful days.
It just felt as though it had been longer with Harry, not just because she had spent so many years imagining this and admiring him from afar, but because she had also spent those years getting to know one another far better than most. The awkward parts of dating felt skipped over; they had taken to the relationship like a kelpie to water.
He took the Quaffle from her and went to the store cupboard, pulling back the deadbolt lock.
‘How many people do you think have snogged in there?’ she asked.
He laughed. ‘What?’
‘That’s the cliche, isn’t it?’ she said. ‘Snogging in a broom cupboard? One of those things that everyone supposedly does but I never actually hear about it happening in real life.’
He laughed again as he pulled out the trunk that stored the Quidditch balls and kicked it open. ‘Really? In muggle schools I think it’s meant to be behind the bike sheds.’
‘I’m sure if you’d gone to a muggle school that’s exactly what you’d have been doing; snogging girls behind the bike sheds.’ The bludgers were straining angrily against their leather straps as Harry replaced the Quaffle.
‘I very much doubt it, I can’t pretend I’m experienced with broom cupboards, clearly, so-’
‘Well,’ she said, ‘not yet.’
A burst of courage had overwhelmed her; she impulsively grabbed the front of his robes and hauled him into the broom cupboard. He was spluttering with shocked laughter. ‘Ginny? What-’
The rest of his sentence was lost to a slight hum as she pulled him down to kiss him fiercely, backing herself into the corner, bracing herself unsteadily against some dusty old Shooting Star brooms, letting his hands support her waist as he kissed her back. The moment she found herself suitably propped up, she let her hands roam too: up his sides and brushing over his shoulders and then into his hair - his gorgeous, thick, dark, ridiculously messy hair.
Their lips broke apart in shuddering gasps. ‘I’ve always wanted to do that,’ she murmured stupidly.
‘What? Snog me or snog in a broom cupboard?’
‘Both.’
His lips met hers again, and then followed the line of her jaw, and onto her neck. It was a sensation unlike she had ever experienced; Dean had kissed her neck, certainly, and it had been enjoyable, but Harry’s lips seemed to send jolts straight through her, seemed to command her head to fall back with a sigh. Now one of his hands was entangled in her hair - her own had moved quite of their own accord to slide down his lean chest, where her fingers fumbled over buttons.
He groaned slightly; she was quite sure he was entirely unaware of it, unaware of how he was pressing his body against her, how his knee had found its place between her legs, entirely ignorant of what he was reducing her to, how she was overwhelmed, this fantastic feeling building somewhere below her navel, something like anticipation.
Her fingers found the warm skin of his chest where she had undone his top two buttons, and her hand slipped beneath the fabric to rest over his beating heart. She felt him shudder slightly, but she knew, instinctively (though the way he clutched her even closer was a good indicator too), that it was very much a positive shudder.
Suddenly, his lips left her skin. He had fallen back just like her, exposing his throat as he tilted his head back and breathed out a long, slow breath. Her hand traced under his shirt. His eyes were fluttering closed. He was melting at her touch, that simple act of her palms against him, her gentle caress.
She continued it for what couldn’t have been more than twenty seconds, but Harry seemed to come back to earth, blinking rapidly, stepping back. ‘I-’ he began hoarsely.
‘It’s all right,’ she said swiftly. The rapid escalation of their kissing had surprised even her.
‘I’m - I’m not used to-’ he mumbled, and then, even in the dim light of the cupboard, she saw pink flush along his cheekbones.
‘Touch?’ she offered.
‘I suppose,’ he said quietly. ‘Yeah.’
‘We have time,’ she said, even quieter. ‘All the time we need.’
He nodded, and kissed her again; softly and slowly.

Harry: What about this one, Lily? Lily L: No. Harry: This one? Lily L: No. Harry: I give up. Let’s go home. Lily L: This one, dad! Choose this one!
I see a lot of fics in which Harry gets hurt but I rarely see Ginny in his place even though she has a rather dangerous job too. Will you please write something in which Ginny and Harry reverse roles? Like, Injured!Ginny Worried!Harry? Oh and I guess I love you (runs away)
The crowd was roaring, and Harry was roaring with them, leaning over the edge of the top box, punching the air as his wife - his wife! - shot like an arrow through the air.
She had been scoring goal after magnificent goal - she was moving too fast for him to see her expression, but he knew it would be set in determination, that blazing look in her eyes, her fiery hair streaming behind her.
‘It’s Potter with the quaffle - over to Jones - back to Potter with a pass beneath Jupp - dodging Goldsmith - GOAAAL!’
The swell of noise was incomprehensible, and Harry was yelling too, both he and Ron jumping clumsily as they grasped one another’s shoulders and clapped each other’s chests, shouting with exhilarated delight.
‘What a way to announce her new name!’ he heard Ron shout into his ear, and Harry laughed proudly. Ginny had strode, cool as you please, onto the pitch with her new name stitched onto her robes and an expression as though she hadn’t noticed the tremendous effect it had caused on the gathered crowd. Harry was sure the press section had been gradually growing in number throughout the match. He felt a little burst of smugness that they had kept the wedding secret for this long.
Ginny was darting about again, rolling her broom beneath her own team’s seeker so she could zoom up the pitch uninterrupted or slowed down by turns, aiming straight for the Tornado’s chaser, ready to intercept-
It was though Harry was suddenly underwater - everything was muffled, and slightly slower than normal. He saw the dark blur of the bludger, saw the way Ginny spun to the side as it collided with the side of her temple, saw her fall limp and then down - down - down -
He was gripping the edge of the box tightly, but he used it to push off as he turned, and ran. He was vaguely aware of Ron shouting after him, but his blood was thundering through his head, horror coursing through his veins, he only wanted one thing in the world and that was her…
He pounded down the stairs of the stands and reached the edge of the pitch, but the security trolls stepped across, refusing to let him past. ‘Let me go!’ he yelled at them - the crowd was still making a lot of noise, loud, low and rumbling, and he could see a cluster of Healers on the pitch, Ginny was surely in the middle of them. ‘I need to-’
The trolls’ handler hurried forward, and visibly paled as he recognised Harry. ‘Please, S-sir, just-’
‘Let me get to her!’ Harry bellowed, trying to wrestle his way past the troll’s outstretched arm. This was futile, as it was roughly the size of Harry himself.
‘Mr Potter, you can’t go onto the pitch, our safety regulations-’
‘Let - me - on!’ Harry snarled. ‘I’ll curse the whole bloody lot of you-’
‘Mr Potter,’ came a more authoritative voice - it was the Harpies’ manager, Corrine Johnson. ‘She’ll be fine - they’re taking her straight to St Mungos.’
As if on cue, he saw the Healers vanish, leaving the pitch empty. Harry heard the commentator, his voice jovial and unconcerned, ‘Potter is out of the game, the Harpies are down to two chasers - it’s Reed in posession-’
Harry took a shuddering breath, stepped back from the trolls, twisted, and vanished with a crack.
After the deafening noise of the stadium, the relative quiet of St Mungos was disorientating; his ears were ringing slightly. He stumbled straight to the witch at the reception desk, shifting from foot to foot impatiently as the wizard in front of him slowly described how his nipples had vanished and been replaced with salami.
‘Fourth floor, please, Mr Bannerman - Healer Patil will see you there. Next, please!’
Harry hurried forward. ‘I need to see Ginny Potter,’ he said breathlessly. ‘She will have just been brought in-’
‘Oh, wow, congratulations!’ the witch squealed. ‘When did you get married? I never saw anything about it in-’
‘Thanks,’ he said impatiently. ‘Where is she?’
‘Er…’ she said, her voice still far too bright for Harry’s liking. She looked down at her magical folder - the words across it constantly moved and crossed themselves out. She flicked through a few pages. ‘Ooh, yes, she’s on this floor - down that corridor and take a right, then it’s the second door on the left - so do you have any photos of the big day?’
But Harry had already gone, rushing down the corridor as fast as he felt he could, nimbly dodging a man leading his child, whose head seemed to have swelled to the size of a beach ball, towards the stairs.
‘Oh, go away,’ came a voice, the moment he found the right corridor. ‘I refuse to work late tonight.’
‘Healer Gower,’ Harry said. ‘Where-’
‘She’s in there. Will you calm down? Healer Pye’s dealing with her - I don’t do sports injuries, I do proper stuff. My shift’s over anyway.’
Harry burst into the room. Healer Pye was at the foot of the bed examining a clipboard; he smiled up calmly as Harry entered. ‘I just saw you were en route,’ he said, tapping the clipboard. ‘Take a seat, she’ll wake up in a bit.’
Harry slowly approached. Ginny lay there, pale and still but visibly breathing, a turban of bandages around the crest of her head, though her bright red ponytail was still visible resting on one shoulder.
Harry sat in the chair beside her, his breathing finally slowing. ‘She’s going to be all right?’ he asked faintly.
Healer Pye looked at him, surprised. ‘Mmm? Oh, yes, it’s just a cracked skull. Let her have a rest overnight and we’ll discharge her in the morning.’ He reattached the clipboard to the end of her bed, and left, quietly closing the door behind him.
Harry looked back at Ginny, her perfect face peaceful, her freckles standing out more than ever on her pale skin. He reached out and held her hand, his thumb running over the engagement and wedding rings, his fingertips brushing against her soft palms. He waited, for a very long time, just watching her and thinking of her blazing look and the way she was in the mornings and the way she sighed when her legs were around his hips and the way she laughed and how she always curled up in the corner of the sofa.
Eventually she began to stir; first her hand twitching under his fingers (she was always so ticklish), then she shifted slightly as though uncomfortable, and then her head was rolling to the side, so her face was pointed at him, and her eyelids fluttered.
‘Hello,’ he said to her, and he hadn’t spoken in so long that his voice came out gravelly. ‘How’re you feeling?’
She groaned slightly, and frowned. ‘Did we win?’
He smiled. ‘I… I don’t know, I’m sorry.’
She frowned harder. ‘You didn’t stay to find out?’
‘I came straight here… I was so worried about you.’
She considered him for a moment, her eyes narrowed. Then she slowly lifted her hand and touched the bandages on her head. Then, quite unexpectedly, she grinned. ‘Shoe’s on the other foot now, isn’t it, Harry?’
He spluttered into laughter. ‘Excuse me?’
‘Doesn’t feel good, sitting in that chair, does it?’
He laughed harder, and leaned forward to kiss her smiling face. ‘I think I overreacted a bit,’ he admitted. ‘It just looked awful.’
‘You silly thing,’ she said, squeezing his hand. ‘It’s just Quidditch. You’ve had a bludger to the head before, you know how it is.’
‘It was actually a beaters bat, and I hear that it looked quite funny,’ said Harry.
‘It didn’t!’ she said, but she was chuckling too now.
The door opened, and Ron stepped in, carrying a little cardboard carrier of coffees and a white paper bag. ‘Oh, good, you’re awake,’ he said. ‘I bought us some muffins.’
‘Did we win?’ Ginny asked quickly.
‘Yeah,’ Ron said easily, and Ginny beamed. ‘The Tornados caught up with you a bit after you got knocked out, but Alicia got the snitch.’
‘Brilliant,’ she said happily.
‘You were fantastic,’ Harry told her. ‘Until you got knocked out, obviously.’
‘Yeah,’ said Ron, pulling the other chair closer to the bed with a scrape and sitting down heavily. ‘But listen, you, just because you’ve got the name Potter now doesn’t mean you can just be in and out of here all the time.’
Ginny gasped, and looked at Harry. ‘That must be what it is! It’s your bloody name!’
‘No, it’s not, it’s just… really inconvenient timing,’ said Harry, amused.
‘I mean it, if I start getting horribly injured all the time, I’m going straight back to Weasley.’
‘Well the good thing,’ said Ron thickly as he bit into a muffin and chucked one at Harry. ‘Is that with that name you might be in here all the time, but you won’t actually die. Just worry everyone.’
‘How has Ginny getting knocked out turned into me getting taken the micky out of?’ asked Harry.
Ginny turned to Ron, grinning. ‘He was worried about me.’
‘Hah,’ said Ron. ‘Shoe’s on the other foot, innit?’
‘That’s what I said.’
‘It looked horrendous!’ insisted Harry. He gaped at Ron. ‘Were you not worried?’
‘Yeah, a bit,’ shrugged Ron. ‘But then the Healers slowed her down before she hit the ground and they were walking onto the pitch - they clearly weren’t worried. This stuff happens all the time in Quidditch. I was shouting after you, but you just ran off, you lunatic.’
‘Aww,’ said Ginny, grinning at Harry. ‘You really were worried, weren’t you?’
‘Yes,’ he said firmly, and he raised their linked hands to kiss the back of her fingers. ‘And I’m going to be every time a bludger comes near you.’
Ron made a dismissive sound. ‘She’s fine. Bet you did it on purpose, just to avoid the press, didn’t you?’
She winked at him.
A very special rainy afternoon at The Burrow, in 2002.

Teddy: Are you kissing Harry because he gave you a ring? Ginny: What ring, Teddy. Harry: I haven’t given Ginny that very secret ring yet. Teddy: No? Andromeda: Teddy, sweetheart, let Harry breathe for at least two seconds?
When he decides he wants to live with her.
[Dialogue] Astoria: I have to go now, but I wish I could stay all day long with her too. Draco: Stay as long as you like. Astoria: That would clearly be against your father’s wish. Draco: The cat’s opinion is more important.

We all like to joke about how nobody who was at Hogwarts with Harry Potter would be able to learn anything because of all the monsters and dark wizards and shit attacking from all sides, but like, when you think about it… your average Hogwarts student never actually sees that.
I mean, until the battle at the end of Book 7, the climactic points of Harry's adventures have tended to happen either in areas of the school where students aren't supposed to have access or outside of Hogwarts altogether. And in general the only students directly involved were Harry and his little clique.
So like, for the average Hogwarts student, it's more like… you still get a basically normal school experience (albeit with the odd spate of petrifications or megalomaniac Defence teacher to worry about), but also there are these three kids in your class who are just super weird.
Like, one of them is kind of famous, and you'd assume he'd be popular because of that, but he pretty much exclusively hangs out with the class braniac and that one kid with all the brothers, and doesn't really have any other friends. The three of them are practically joined at the hip, and spend most of their time sitting together having whispered conversations that stop the moment anyone else passes by, and then resume only after they've walked out of earshot. You're pretty sure you overheard the word "death-eater" once or twice.
Then during the end of term assembly, when the headmaster is covering all the last notices like who won the Quidditch Cup, and how the frog choir got on at regionals, he suddenly stands up and says "and let's have a big round of applause for Harry, Ron and Hermione, from the First Year, who last week defeated the reanimated soul of wizard-Hitler after he possessed a staff member!"
And you're all just sort of clapping along like whatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuck and then they win the House Cup and you all go home, and literally nobody ever mentions this incident, or the apparent return of wizard-Hitler, or the fact that he can possess people now, ever again.
And then next year it starts all over.
*hand slips* whoopsie I guess she’s trans huh
… and without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching…
Ew. Part 1 / 2!
Hope you guys enjoy the new comic! Sorry I’ve been out of commission for a few months, 2021 has been kinda tough so far! Ready to get back to drawing! ❤

Harry Potter AU in which Fred and George are in different houses and they steal and wear each others ties whilst doing stupid things in hope of the others house losing points
Finally a Fred and George AU that doesn’t make me want to set myself on fire.
AU where Fred and George are in different houses and they get their hands on house ties from the other two houses as well. By the end of their first year nobody knows which house either of them is in and just take points off a random house whenever they see a redhead getting up to something.
The confusion runs so deep by the time Ron starts that Snape once takes points off Slytherin for Ron fighting with Malfoy.
There’s a few months in Fred and George’s second year when they successfully convince most of the school that they’re actually quadruplets, one in each house.
“George! Why are you wearing a Slytherin tie?”
“What? No, I’m Edward. Y'know, Slytherin’s resident Weasley?”
“Wh…huh???”
“Next you’ll be telling me you don’t know Hubert!”
“?????”
After this confusing quadruple mess, a conspiracy theory emerges that Fred and George are actually just one person, and there were never any Weasley Twins. To add fuel to this theory, Fred and George make a point to never be seen together (publicly).
When asked about this theory, Fred/George subtly insinuates that he used Polyjuice Potion so that there could be multiple versions of himself at once. This goes around the Hogwarts Rumor Mill like fire. The Weasley family says nothing to dispute it, not even Percy.
Percy makes polyjuice successfully for the first time in his fifth year, when he finally has sufficient motivation. Fred, George, Edward and Hubert walk into the great hall one morning, identical but for their school ties, and the chaos is so great that nobody realizes Percy and Ron are missing.
This post contains the same chaotic energy the twins display and I’m here for it
