he squats down until he’s eye level with the little girl, hoping his mask isn’t too scary looking for her. he’d take it off if he could, but that would only make the situation worse. he can’t smile, so he keeps his tone light, friendly.

fake faints like a vitorian lady right in to his arms. ' our lucky day, kamui woods! im in / dire / need of a hero. ' with a grin and a waggle of his brows.

his quick instincts allow him to catch the hero, of course, though he feels a little badly that his arms aren’t more comfortable to land on. it doesn’t occur to him that hawks might be messing with him, naive as he was, so he panics, scooping hawks into his arms bridal style.

it can be difficult to tell what emotion he’s showing underneath the helmet, though he hoped his eyes and the tone of his voice might provide some helpful clues. he’s smiling now, eyes crinkling as he tilts his head. 

❛ wait… how old do you think i am ? ❜ he almost forgets himself, as there might even be an edge of teasing in his tone, leaking out from all his formalities. 

emotion that’s difficult to detect is no stranger to aizawa  —  however, normally he’s the culprit,  and light jest has never been something he’s known how to respond appropriately to. needless to say,  his demeanor becomes awkward,  quick.

“ ah… ”  he comes to a complete stop,  turning his head to view him,  eyes devoid of all telling what might be going through his head.  how long kamui has been on the scene rolls through his mind, paired next to how long a tree lives, and what that means for someone like kamui, and… honest to god, he has no idea. he’s never asked himself.  “ no idea, woods. i have… no idea how old you are.  how old are you? ”

he’s smiling again, though he supposed aizawa had no way of knowing that, save for the small crinkling of his eyes. the question itself is a little unfair, considering kamui himself doesn’t really know, all he has is a best guess, but he was still curious at what aizawa’s guess might have been.

❛ but my best guess is 29. i could be off by a few years, though. which makes me younger than you ! ❜

❛ oh - ! my apologies… ❜ for a top ten hero, off the battlefield he can be rather shy and awkward. especially around such confident personalities. he tended to be more of a wallflower.

handsome is the last word anyone would use to describe his face, but she had no way of knowing that. he kept his mask on for the sake of the people around hi, hiding the truth that lurked underneath.
