olim- flags
[pt: olim- flags /end pt]
derived from the latin adverb "olim" (link), meaning "formerly" or "in the past". i wanted a prefix system to describe once having a particular identity before moving away from it—whether realizing something else fit you more, or maybe a deliberate "stepping stone" of sorts (i.e. for the transitional experiences of some multitransitional peoples)—but it still having some sort of significance to you and your identity today, enough to label it.
this coining post is primarily oriented towards gender transition qualities, but the olim- prefix can be applied to any sort of label. feel free to tag me if you happen to coin using this! i'd love to see. don't worry about altering the wording to be able to fit another type of term, but i ask you kindly not to alter the meaning and intention. the symbols are meant to be overlayed on any flag you want to convey it's an olim- flag.
these flags are based on throwawayacountyay's (link) transfem and transmasc flags. the symbols (the bar on the left and left-facing triangle on the right) are meant to mimic the common rewind/reverse symbol (⏮). there's a grayscale png template at the bottom. here's the flags without the symbols, if you want them. olimtmasc / olimtransmasculine: having previously identified as transmasc, but still finding it impacts your identity today; whether you still feel a connection to the label, you feel your experiences as someone transmasc has shaped your experience with your transition and/or gender today, etc.
olimtfem / olimtransfeminine: having previously identified as transfem, but still finding it impacts your identity today; whether you still feel a connection to the label, you feel your experiences as someone transfem has shaped your experience with your transition and/or gender today, etc.
olimtneu / olimtransneutral: having previously identified as transneu, but still finding it impacts your identity today; whether you still feel a connection to the label, you feel your experiences as someone transneu has shaped your experience with your transition and/or gender today, etc.
olimtangi / olimtransandrogynous: having previously identified as transangi, but still finding it impacts your identity today; whether you still feel a connection to the label, you feel your experiences as someone transangi has shaped your experience with your transition and/or gender today, etc.
olimt[x] / olimtrans[x]-: having previously identified as trans[x], but still finding it impacts your identity today; whether you still feel a connection to the label, you feel your experiences as someone trans[x] has shaped your experience with your transition and/or gender today, etc.
the transparent olim- symbol for overlays, or for use as a centered symbol if aligning it at the edges is difficult.
