Hello fellow split friends!
It has been 2 months since my last update with you all and I’m here to tell you I’ve been practicing!
I increased my stretching to 3-4 times a week and have noticed some slight gains in my progress.
I’ve stopped doing partner stretching (although I would prefer that).
My forward splits are almost 100% flat! I have now started using blocks to practice over splits because I’ve read online that this is what will make your splits very flat and easier to slide into.
I am now spending equal amount of time on my middle splits as I am with my forward splits. I do 3 rounds of stretching (3-5 mins each time). By my third round of stretching, my middle splits are 80% flat. There is still some gap and I’ve started using blocks in frog pose to make my middle splits flat. I think it’s working but won’t know for another couple weeks.
Before this year, I’ve spent little time on stretching my straddle / pancake stretch. Now I spending about 10 mins on this position. I learned the hard way that you can have middle splits but not your straddle stretch! They are completely different muscle groups. I wish I had know that sooner. This move feels the most uncomfortable to me and it’s very painful. I can’t lay on the ground yet for more than 10 seconds after doing a serious long warm up!
