I’ve been in this fandom for a long time (okay, I left the fandom a long time ago but this network has made me consider giving it another chance), and I have to ask… what exactly is the point of this:

It’s only fueling the bullying in this fandom, honestly, and I’m talking about BOTH sides. Not just Nancy. I’ve watched this cycle go on and on for months, and it’s shit like this that drove me away from the fandom in the first place. I don’t hate Nancy, don’t get me wrong, but it got to the point where I ended up unfollowing her because I was so fucking tired of the constant negativity/ship wars/bitching/whatever you want to call it.
Sorry for rambling, but I needed to vent and there is no way in hell I would post this on my primary blog. #kthanksbai
The links are all to one blog, but they show both sides to this argument.
There isn't any point, to be blunt. The simple fact is that if everyone were to ignore what they hated and move on, they would have a much better time. Of course, there's always the freedom to post opinions. The caveat is that they shouldn't aim to personally attack other users for their alternate opinions.
tagged as 'anti John Smith' is an opinion. Others can disagree, but it's a personally valid opinion. If others then go into the 'anti John Smith' tag, then they're stirring trouble for no reason. However, posts like:
People who like John Smith are all idiots
are hateful for no reason, even if they're tagged as 'anti John Smith'. It's fine not to like this fictional John Smith, but others are also allowed to like him without fear of judgement. That's twice as bad when tagged with the simple 'John Smith' so fans who search for him would see negativity sent towards him.
Obviously, that's just a generic name that means nothing. Both sides are, of course, wrong. It's not fair to attack anyone for their likes or dislikes. It's not right to stalk blogs that have likes which make your skin crawl. Hate blogs are useless because they channel useful energy into nothing more than spikes of anger, which then can sometimes turn into obsession.
When we see blogs like those, it's easy to slip into the idea that there's unilateral hate between Wincest and Destiel fans, Misha and J2 fans. There isn't. There's a great deal more understanding on Tumblr than people realise. Of course there are those on both sides of each who hate or send hate. It would be naive to think otherwise. However, on Tumblr, it's a lot better than you would think. It's just a shame that these negative blogs get some of the greatest attention.
We hope that you do come back to the fandom. It's a better place to be than you think. Look at the blogs who have already backed this idea. There's a mix of Wincest, Destiel, Sastiel, multishippers, J2 fans, Misha lovers, Misha dislikers, everything. We can respect our likes and dislikes, but not belittle anyone else for a separate opinion.
You can come back. If you'd like to talk in private or find some better blogs, that's more than okay.
