Supernatural Father's Day Exchange

The SPN Father’s Day Exchange is a fic and art exchange run through Ao3 to celebrate SPN dads. This exchange is NOT confined to men who are fathers in canon; characters who you want to see as a father, characters who are father figures, women who you think have “dad vibes”, etc are all acceptable, as long as the works created are focused on fathers or fatherhood in some way.

Minimums

Fic must be 500 words minimum. Art must be a completed sketch.

Rules

1) YOU MUST BE 18 OR OLDER BY MARCH 22, 2024 TO PARTICIPATE. Anyone found breaking this rule will be banned from this exchange, all future iterations of it, and any other events that I run.

2) Be respectful of all other participants. If there are any issues, please contact me through the exchange Tumblr account or DM me on Discord and we will work together to solve it.

3) Respect Do Not Wants (DNWs) and use common sense – if someone requests fluff and doesn’t DNW torture, they probably still don’t want torture unless otherwise requested. 

4) Your work must focus on fathers or fatherhood in some way (this rule is up to interpretation, as long as you create something your giftee will be happy with). 

5) To request an extension, contact me on the exchange's Tumblr account or DM me on Discord. Include your Ao3 handle and how long of an extension you need. You don't need to give a reason or explanation, just a heads-up so that I don't give your assignment to someone else.

7) If you for some reason cannot complete your work, hit the "Default" button next to your assignment in your Ao3 "Assignments" page. No reason or explanation is necessary, but please do this sooner rather than later if you are sure that you will not be able to complete your creation.

Tagset Nomination

First: What is the tagset for??? 

Tags in the tagset are the only things you can sign up to offer/request and then match on — it's a way of making sure we're all consistent in the tags we use when we sign up so that half of us aren't offering Character A & Character B and the other half Character B & Character A, since those tags wouldn't be able to match to each other. 

The Additional Tags in the tagset also allow us to match on story elements to ensure you are getting a story with a plot point or theme that you will enjoy. 

Tag Nomination Format: 

Please nominate relationship and character tags in the following format:

For relationships, nominate as Character Full Name/Character Full Name OR Character Full Name & Character Full Name

For solo characters, nominate as Solo: Character FullName

Examples: 

Dean Winchester/Lisa Braeden 

Dean Winchester & Ben Braeden

Solo: John Winchester

-> Both Relationships and Characters should be nominated as “Relationships” in the tagset.  -> Characters do not have to be fathers in canon -> Characters do not have to be paired with a “wife” or “child” character; those are just my examples. You will have space to expand on your preferences for the relationship dynamics in the sign up form.   -> NO Crossovers. All characters must be from the Supernatural series universe. This means no spinoff or prequel characters unless they also appear in the show. (This means French Mistake characters are allowed, but regular RPF will not be allowed.) -> Otherwise, no restrictions apply. 

Please nominate additional tags as you would use regular additional tags on Ao3. 

Examples: 

Breaking the Cycle of Violence

John Winchester’s A+ Parenting

Character Convinces Sibling to Forgive Their Father

-> These do not have to be Ao3 “canon tags”, and can get as specific as you want.  -> These should be father-themed in some way, but the definition of that is fairly flexible.  -> There is NO content restriction on these tags! Can be as lighthearted or as dark as you want ;) -> The finished work does not have to use the tag you matched on as a tag! It just serves to ensure you are getting a story with a plot point or theme that you will enjoy through the matching process. 

If I nominate tags, does that mean I have to participate?

No. Please nominate tags that you want to match on even if you're only vaguely thinking of signing up or treating, because otherwise you'll be stuck with what other people have nominated.

My nomination(s) haven't been accepted! Why?

This is my first time running an exchange with tag nominations – please have patience!! I may not have gotten to it yet. 

If there is an issue with a tag that needs correcting or explaining, I may make a nomination clarification post and send a message in the server about it. 

My nomination(s) were rejected! Why?

Maybe you nominated a character who doesn't qualify for the exchange... or maybe your nomination was really close to a nomination we already have... or maybe I made a mistake! Rejected characters/tags should be listed in the nominations clarification posts and messages. If you don't see anything that explains your rejection, send me a message to ask me about it.
