There should have been nothing remarkable about two people in a busy cafeteria, but Becket takes in the familiar sight of curly hair, brown eyes, and a t-shirt with a science pun on it talking animatedly alongside Actual Anthony Edward Stark and promptly drops his lunch.

He gapes for a solid second, seeing but not believing. It definitely doesn’t look like Mr. Stark is forcing the kid to leave, or firing him, or escorting him to security given the relaxed smiles on both of their faces. If anything, Becket thinks Mr. Stark looks rather proud.

“So, uh, Mr. Stark definitely knows Roomba-Kid,” Becket says and discreetly tilts his head in the direction of the pair.

“Oh my god,” Jess says. She almost sounds gleeful. “Oh my god, he’s not just some random kid. He’s Mr. Stark’s kid.”

I can’t be the only one who sees this…

Look at Sam’s face. To me, I don’t just see a man losing a friend, I see a man haunted by his trauma. Nearly ten years ago, Sam took his dive into hell knowing that it was the only way to save the world and those he loved. Watching Rowena’s own “Swan Dive” forced Sam to not only relive one of the most terrifying moments of his life, but he had to stand by and let history repeat itself in someone he truly cared for.

He and Rowena bonded over their suffering at the hands of Lucifer and it was the first time that anyone truly understood what Sam had been through. That solidified an unlikely friendship and comradery. That gave Sam the empathy he needed to find the beauty in a powerful witch.

There’s guilt, grief, fear, and memories ripping through him all at once. Sam knows the darkness that awaited her below all too well and it ate him alive. That’s another reason he mourned so deeply for her loss. Sam couldn’t bear the thought of Rowena trapped where he once was, no matter for how brief before she would be overtaken by the souls. Not only did he have to allow it to happen, but he also had to be the one that set it in motion. He had to be the one to watch his friend take the same plunge that stole his humanity.

Welcome!

Hello! We just wanted to officially welcome you all to this little project we’ve created. Our hope is to shine as much light on all the writers in the Irondad fandom and all their amazing work. But how do we plan to do that?

I’m glad you asked.

Every week, we’ll be sharing several different things to spotlight writers in this fandom. We’ve devised a neat little schedule of what we have planned. So here goes!

Every Monday, we’ll post two things. First, we’ll be asking you guys to send in your favorite Irondad tropes (why will be explained shortly). We also will be posting a story recommendation, where we can share a story that we think should be shared with the fandom. Along with the link and the synopsis of the story, we’ll also share our personal review of the story to drum up some more support for it. Stories will come from either Ao3 or Tumblr.

Every Wednesday, we’ll be posting author shout-outs. This is a chance for us to shout-out an author in the Irondad fandom who’s been doing some awesome work that we want to celebrate. We’ll include their Ao3 page and their Tumblr (if we can find it).

Every Friday, we’ll be sharing a recommendation list based on the trope of the week (so sending in those tropes on Monday we’ll be super helpful!). Here we’ll list a bunch of great stories that fall into this trope, along with their synopsis and some added personal review.

And finally, on Saturdays, we’ll be posting our author spotlight. For the author spotlight, we’ll be reaching out to authors will curated questions that they can answer to allow everyone to get to know them a little better. It’s a chance to share about yourself and your writing, while also getting some recognition for your work.

Of course, with all of this, the ask box will always be open. So if you have any stories you want to recommend or authors you want to nominate for author shout-out or author spotlight, please let us know! This a community and we want a place where everyone can feel recognized and welcomed.

Our schedule will begin this coming Monday, November 25th. Until then, our asks are open and we’ll be scouring Tumblr and Ao3 for content! We can’t wait to get started!
