The one thing I've always noticed about this hug is there line of sight while hugging. Jaskier is looking away from Geralt. He isn't invested in the hug. It hurts more than heals. As for Geralt, he is looking towards Jaskier. He's looking for forgiveness. He truly misses Jaskier.
