TBP characters as animals I think theyād be (not following sound animal logic bc idc lol) š
Finney would be a dog I think, first movie ofc being a younger more nervous one, but after those events grows up to be more āreactiveā so to speak. I think his fur would be darker and his fur would be wiry, like the type of dog his father is (still brown tho) but the ears would be like that. Bc I dunno it fits him imo
Gwen would be a cat like her mother. Cats are inherently angelic so it fits, plus sheās very much someone who does what she wants, stubborn. Chose a fluffy tabby bc again it felt right, plus only makes sense her and her brother look similar even as different animals
I think Ernesto would be a Fallow Deer, like his mother. He just seems more nervous and flighty in nature, but yāknow even a nervous deer has Antlers when needed
I think Robin would be a Javelina like his father, because they are small but powerful and aggressive animals. Underestimated but can do damage when needed. I also just like pigs and pig like animals lol
Terrence would be a dog like this, I feel like theyāre hard to read, which I think fits the instability of an abusive parent. Also he just kinda looks this way lol (in my experience dogs like this are either really aggressive or mostly normal so I may be bias)
I think Mando would be a Kengal, or any kinda large livestock guardian dog. Definitely with cropped ears. I think it fits his rough backstory very well, but also he cares so much about the campers that itās haunted him for his whole life. You see the vision Iām sure, I feel like this one is the most obvious of them all lol
Max would be a toucanā¦.heās very flashy and eccentric, plus, yāknow, big nose to help him do even more blow
Albert would be an Albino Hare. Only albino in the family. Heās a magician, so thatās an obvious pick there, but Lagomorphs are also inherently Satanic so itās obvious heād have to be one. (More reasons but Iāll get to those in a later post. Hopefully.)
Another Albert hare bc itās hard to find photos of them š since theyāre so rare in general (another reason heād be one tho)
I struggle with TBP fandom bc, in the least pretentious way possible, it is so mainstream it hurts. Talking about some coffee shop AU shit and I just have to turn my phone off and go on a walk. Itās all just crossover this wholesome AU that. Which obviously thereās nothing wrong with any of this, it just has no appeal to me at all whatsoever. And I am a mean hateful person
i think i don't really vibe with most other fans of my favorite male characters is because they usually depict them too much of a man, and i am not interested in men, i am interested in The Character. and i am not saying that they should depict them as women, or nonbinary, or should depict them as feminine, no, not at all. but there's like, you know, you can depict a male character as The Character, and you can depict them as The Man. do you get me? like, i go to the fandom looking for art and fics, and it's just, regardless of his actual characterization, it's all just fantasizing about some kind of an abstract dominant patriarch, wearing my favorite character's face. it may be the most totally-wouldnt-have-normal-relationships (and sometimes even would-literally-abuse-you) kind of guy, and you join a dedicated space for his fans, and all they talk about is how they want to marry and start a tradcore 50s style nuclear family with him. it can be a guy who's arrogance and attempts of domination are explicitly shown to be a facade that hide the fact that he's actually kind of a massive pathetic wet loser, and you go to his fics, and they're all depicting him as a caricaturish daddy dom. at this point it's like, do you even like the character at all, or do you just like The Man, and project this man onto whatever character you find visually attractive? and these people kind of, really really poison actual discussion of the character, who is kind of a fucked up evil person (i only like *those* types, so im talking about them) because they see analysis of the actual character as an attack on their fantasized daddy dom husband, who is actually isn't The Character at all, and is simply a face of the day for The Man
Iāve yet to see anyone who like selfships with the Grabber that doesnāt do this. You literally donāt even like Albert, you like a dominant man and Ethan Hawke. Go find it somewhere else.
"why can't they just be friends?" not in the homophobic sense, but in the "in your need to center romance in everything you are missing the whole point of the media in question" sense
Unless Iām missing smth (possible) I feel like Coyle would have a very unique hatred for Franco. Since Francoās whole thing is literally fetishizing the exact kind of abuse Coyle went through as a child, if you think about it (ābaby boyā in a sexual relationship with his āmommyā). While I believe Coyle doesnāt remember a lot of his childhood due to the trauma, it obviously still effects him, and I do believe be remembers enough of what his mother (and father ofc) had done to him for him to remember it and get upset all over again. But even if he didnāt remember, I think it would still disgust him due to subconscious pattern recognition. Do we see the vision (I wrote this right before bed so please excuse me if itās poorly worded!)
Talking about my idea for the Black Phone 3 a bit here š
(aka oc insert slop. But I still think itās good) (also this isnāt all of it, so I may make other posts with more details later)
My idea is about a young schizoaffective trucker moving to Colorado from the PNW, as heās always wanted to see the world, and felt inexplicably drawn to there. And as soon as he moves in, he sees the news: local serial killer murdered by victim. Now, as a schizoaffective, he would never look at a coincidence like this and see it as just that. A coincidence. He begins looking into the killer more and more, and eventually, an auction pops up for the belongings of said local famous killer
The movie itself would just open with the auction scene where, when they finally bring out the most high ticket items: the killers entire mask set up, they find it gone without a trace.
The movies focus would then shift to Finney, in the future right after the second movie. The focus is on how he and Gwen are finally starting to process what had happened to them, and begin to recover. It would be pleasant, until midway through the film, when Finney is on a night walkā¦and he starts to hallucinate again. This hadnāt happened for awhile, but since heās in a better mind state, he tries to ignore it. But itās not leaving. He can see the Grabber right in front of him. He keeps telling himself itās fakeā¦until the Grabber starts chasing him down. Heās only easy to kidnap this time, as the shock and confusion on what is and isnāt real takes over.
Heād wake up in a dog crate in a camper van, each wall completely covered in news clippings and photographs. And most notably, the masks on display right above where the tiny bed of his captor is. The captor, a man named Alfred whoās not really that old, is finishing what the Grabber started. Who he refers to as āAlbertā. He speaks to the masks on display as if Albert can hear him, and Finney isnāt stupid. He knows he does.
I imagine Finney, Gwen, Hope, Albert, and Alfred all have some level of schizophrenia/schizoaffective. Thatās how theyāre able to communicate and see things going on that others canāt. Just specifying so that people know Iām not just making a villain schizoaffective because I think itās some āOo scary villain disorder!ā It is not.
But I digress. Finney sees the man sleep, and itās abundantly clear that Albert is communicating to Alfred through his dreams. Finney of course canāt also access these dreams, but again, heās not stupid he knows whatās happening. Alfred is doing this to appease the Grabber, naturally, but heās not being manipulated by him. Alfred was destined to be the second coming, he just needed an extra littleā¦push. As I believed the forces of the Blakeās will always exist, the light, and you canāt have the light without dark. Which is where Albert and Alfred come in. They are opposing forces, that always need the other.
I havenāt thought too much on the conclusion (life gets in the way of all things fun and awesome) but I imagine it would be more Gwen with her dream capabilities, and Alfred trying to kill her too. It would be very messy, heās not as good at this as Albert was. He has no practice. I donāt imagine heād die, death is just a word after all, but it would be easy for him to relocate on account of the camper van, and his work of course. I have more to work on and think of of course, and thereās a lot more to Alfred than just what I put in here, but I just wanted to ramble about my mindlessly self indulgent third movie concept lol.
Some smaller things
- I donāt think Finney would ever look at the news, as he just wants to forget it all, so he wouldnāt know the Grabbers real name is Albert Shaw
- Alfred would play music for Finney when heās away
- Father relapse fakeout again (I liked it the first time so Iām reusing it. No actual relapse tho)
- Albert himself wouldnāt be super present, as Alfred wouldnāt let anyone get near him. Like a knight defending the king (yes Alfred is gay and weird about Albert. I believe this would be portrayed as something very disturbing in the movie.)
- Alfred wouldnāt be called schizoaffective ever in the movie obviously, all would be portrayed as him just having the same gift as the Blakeās
- the reason Alfred didnāt kill Finney immediately and instead has him in the crate, is because heās scared to kill him since he doesnāt want to get caught. But that doesnāt mean Finney isnāt being hurt while in there, mentally and physically. Albert is just having to seriously hype up Alfred lol (to again be clear, Alfred WANTS to do it, itās not a morality hang up, heās just scared of jail and has a lot of weird social programming due to his mental issues)
