Iâm not very great at writing angst, but I wanted to try something different. I promise this has a happy ending, and I hope it is ok. Itâs been in my drafts for ages and Iâm not super proud of it. This fic never felt right to me. NOT A CHEATING MISUNDERSTANDING, I REFUSE TO WRITE ANYTHING CHEATING!!! | Not really proofread
Knockout x Reader x Breakdown
Thereâs no such thing as ânormal daysâ on the Nemesis, not in the sense you would think of anyway. Especially when two huge bots are in the question, and even more so when youâre in a relationship with them. The Decepticons in and of themselves should come with their own warning. While everybody is chaotic, you can usually trust your two bots to be calm when alone.
Knockout brings you to some of his races, having a human in his car makes him way less suspicious, even if he has ridiculously tinted windows. He always dumps you out at a safe point if he deems the other racers to be far more aggressive for his taste. He would take you shopping, letting you have the money he wins from those races. He likes to drive past clothing stores and say what he thinks you would look âdashingâ in, bonus points if he finds an outfit in his (or Breakdownâs) colors.
Breakdown likes to let you accompany him on patrol. It might not be as exciting as racing, but youâre more than happy to spend some calmer downtime with him. He might not show it in battle, but he really is a gentle giant. Breakdown is very sweet, has a stupid lopsided grin every time Knockout is talking. While he doesnât always audibly admit his care towards you both, he loves helping you two and providing safety and care.
Sure, you sometimes feel like youâre impeding on their preexisting relationship, theyâre centuries old! And you are only a few decades old. Theyâve known each other for so long, been together for equally as long. They could probably tell you what the other is thinking at any given time. Despite this, they both welcomed you with open arms, and treated you as a much smaller, and far more fragile, equal.
Today, you were in the medbay, watching as Knockout works on a vehicon. Breakdown had to leave when he was summoned, something about a new artifact needing recovered. The medbay was oddly quiet today, Knockout wasnât really looking your way. When Breakdown had been here earlier he wasnât paying you much attention either, both of them have barely said 5 sentences in total today. Knockout finishes up with the Vehicon and sends him on his way, and instead of coming over to you to chat like he always does, he turns his back to you to clean up instead. WeirdâŠ
Later in the day, Breakdown had returned, and Knockout had went out on one of his races, without you this time. This left you and Breakdown alone for the evening. âWant to go out for a driveâŠ?â You looked up at Breakdown, he almost never turns out a drive. He seems to hesitate for a second, looking stuck on what exactly he wants to say. âNo, Iâm busy tonight.â You deflate a bit, taking notice of the distance between you two, and how he seems to staying away from you unlike normal. âThatâs alrightâŠâ
When Knockout returns, the two of them sit together on the berth, leaving you standing on the nearby workbench. âGuys?â You try calling out, getting no response you chalk it up to maybe not hearing you. âGuysâŠ?â Still, they didnât look up. You look at how far down off the workbench it would be to climb down, a fruitless effort, youâd break something no doubt. Looking back over at the two conversing, you feel your heart sink. Your fears about impeding in their relationship starting to seem more real. âHelloâŠ?â You try one last time, and when they donât look over, you move away from the edge. You sit down against some toolbox, your chest was hurting, and your head racing. Youâre so confused, why are they suddenly treating you differently? What could you have possibly done to push them away? You thought everything was going so good.
There wasnât anything comfortable for you to lay down on over here. It was late, you were tired, and it was obvious your two lovers werenât right today. Looking around you find a dirty polish rag used by Knockout frequently, and you drag that over to use as a blanket. Laying down on the metal table, your back pressed against the metal of the toolbox, and covered by a rag that absolutely reeks of polishing chemicals. You lay turned in such a way that youâre facing away from them. âGooodnight I guessâŠâ you mumble, there truthfully very little you can do.
You arenât sure when exactly you fell asleep, or even how long youâve been asleep. The dim lighting in the room tells you itâs been at least an hour or so. You were about ready to fall back asleep when you heard a voice.
âWell what are we supposed to do? We canât keep them here. Theyâd find out the truth.â One of the two vents, if you hadnât just woken up you could probably tell who. âTheyâre going t find out sooner or later anyway. We will eventually have to go to them about itâ Breakdown says, now youâre wide awake. Tell you what?
âWe canât just keep them here then. Maybe Soundwave will take them.â They want to get rid of you? Hearing all of this hurts immensely, and you have to fight to stop the tears, a losing battle really. âGood idea. Iâll take them to him tomorrow, say we have a mission. They trust us so theyâll believe it.â You stopped paying attention now, focusing on not sniffling and giving yourself away. Not fully getting your tears under control, you eventually feel large servos gently lifting you up. You try and act as asleep as you can, loosening all your joints and being all pliant. You get placed on Breakdownâs chest, the rag being removed and tossed elsewhere. âWeâre sorry for all of thisâŠâ Breakdown, ever the sweet one says quietly. âReally sorry.â His large servos placed over you as a blanket, and he lays his head back. Knockout climbs into the berth and rests against the bigger mech, his own servo going up to brush at your hair. You seriously hoped your face didnât have tear stains, or if it did they wouldnât notice.
You awoke once more, now on Knockout. Breakdown was out on early morning patrol already like usual. Knockout gently poked you, âWakey wakey.â You smiled at his playful tone, but your smile faltered, remembering what you overheard. âBreakdown and I have a mission unfortunately. Soundwave will be watching over you while weâre gone. We figured he was a better choice than Shockwave or StarscreamâŠâ
âOh⊠yeah ok⊠let me go get my stuff.â Oh how you had hoped what you overheard last night was nothing more than a dream. While packing, you didnât catch the worried expression Knockout wore. âAlright, letâs goâŠâ You toss on your book bag, and lift your arms for Knockout to grab you. Instead of just picking you up like a Barbie doll, Knockout scoop you up and lets you sit in his upturned servo.
âWeâll be back, though I donât know for sure when.â Breakdown, back from patrol joins your walk. âJust be mindful with Soundwave. Heâs around Megatron a lot, which isnât the issue. The issue is Starscream. Wherever Megatron is, Starscream is not far behind.â
Now it was your turn to be quiet, not answering them or bantering like usual. The trip was unbearably short. Soundwave appeared, opening a servo for you to be placed in, nodding once at Knockout and Breakdown once you were transferred over. He turns and walks away before the two could say goodbye, if they planned on it. You tried peeking over his servo to see if you could see your two bots to maybe even try waving at them. You couldnât see around Soundwaveâs pointy shoulders so you gave up. Guess youâd see if they planned on dumping you on this poor bot for good.
It was weirdly boring being with the silent bot. He just typed on a computer and said absolutely nothing. At some point, he popped off Laserbeak, who flew off for awhile. You tried reading whatever it was he was typing on the large computer, it was just a bunch of alien symbols and letterings you had no hope in even beginning to decipher. Laserbeak flew back maybe an hour later with some random assortment of snacks and a drink. No doubt stolen from a nearby convenience store. You donât even question how heâs holding it.
âThanks.â You muttered, watching Laserbeak reattach to Soundwaves chassis. The bot not even turning to see if you starting eating. Looking at the snacks, you seriously debating if you feel up to eat or not, the conversation you overheard last night coming back and weighing on you heavily. Deciding to ignore the food, you pull your knees to your chest and shut yourself into your thoughts.
You sit there for a good while, the bag left untouched at your side. You get broken out of your brain when you feel something poke you, looking up you see Soundwave. Heâs pushing a chip bag towards you with an outstretched digit. On his screen⊠face⊠thing he displays a â?â.
âSorry Soundwave. I know you didnât ask to have a random human permanently dropped on you. Frankly, I donât know why either, itâs very sudden.â You reached for the chip bag he was still subtly pushing towards you. âAlright alright⊠Iâll eat something.â You said, more let down than anything. You forgot how in-tuned to beings this bot can be. He always seems to know what someone is thinking or feeling.
Three days, it has been three days since you were dropped off with Soundwave. In the grand scheme of things, not that long, but when you donât really have that much to do and lots of time to be in your head, it feels like an eternity. Occasionally, you would interact with Megatron, though, from a safe distance in Soundwaves servos or beside him on the console. Megatron didnât seem to be as terrible as some made him out to be, when it was just you three, he seemed⊠tired?
The first time you catch a glimpse of that shiny red mech you know, he just kept walking based the main room. He didnât have any artifacts in his servos, and didnât seem beat up like a mission gone wrong. You had hoped that he would come get you from Soundwave, but he never even stepped foot through the door.
You thought, foolishly, that they would come collect you by the end of the day at least. But nobody ever came for you. Soundwave could even tell how upset you were. Your field was just radiating hurt, sadness, and confusion. Soundwave waited until you were asleep for the night to collect you in his servo and let himself into the medbay.
One of his tentacle things reached out and grabbed Breakdown, yanking him towards him. Soundwave points down at you, then to Breakdown, holding you out towards him. âI know you didnât ask to have a random human permanently dropped on you.â He replays the recording of your voice from days ago, pulling up a video of you crying that you never knew he took, and would for sure be mortified to learn he has, displaying the video on his screen face.
Breakdownâs optics are wide as heâs taking in this sudden information, quickly (and per usual, gently) grabs you and holds you to his chassis. He nods a quick thanks to Soundwave, speedwalking off to find Knockout. He was trying so hard not to wake you up in his panic.
âOh Knockout, we messed up badly-â Breakdown turns the corner, holding you closely. Knockout, looking up from a data pad sees you. âWhat are you doing with them here?! Theyâre going to find out!â He whisper yells at the larger mech.
âKnockout stop. We canât keep hiding this. I think our human has completely misinterpreted whatâs been going on! They told Soundwave they thought we dropped them off with him permanently. He has videos of them crying. No secret is worth ruining our relationship over.â Breakdown, while somewhat frantic, is oh so gently rubbing your back with a servo. It was a calming habit of his he had picked up over the time you were together.
âOh.â Knockout comes over, now looking down at you then to Breakdown. âThey think weâve forgotten them?â It was Knockoutâs turn to take you from Breakdownâs servo. Knockout sits on the berth and mass shifts. The sudden drop feeling wakes you up, and you feel arms hugging you tightly.
âWhat are you doing SoundwaveâŠâ You mumble, still trying to wake up and get your eyes to stay open for longer than 2 seconds. The arms around you tighten a fraction, and warm air hits you as the bot vents.
âNow I hope my finish is a little more glamorous than Soundwaves.â That voice wake you up immediately. You opened your eyes to see that there was in fact the shiny red bot hugging you, though far smaller than normal. âYou came back for meâŠâ You asked, not fully believing you werenât still asleep and dreaming. âYes sweetspark, weâre both here.â
âWhyâŠâ A dumb question you realize as it leaves your mouth. Knockout grimaces, but simultaneously looks confused. âI fear I donât understand? Youâre our human, why wouldnât we come get you?â And much like you, he regrets what leaves his mouth the moment he asked, especially upon seeing your expression.
âI⊠overheard you and Breakdown talking before you left on your âmissionâ. How you were giving me up to Soundwave. I know I donât fit in your relationship, being a tiny human and all. But you guys could have just told me instead of disappearing together⊠I would have understoodâŠâ You were about to continue, but got shut up by a servo holding your face, and the red bot in front of you kissing you. âBreakdown, can you bring the item please?â
The big blue bot climbs onto the berth and mass shifts behind you. Knockout stands to meet him, they talked very briefly with their back facing you, and they seemed to hand each other something. âWhile here on Earth, the last thing either of us expected was to meet an organic that would catch our optics⊠But in our time with you, we realized that most things have been done our way.â Knockout starts, they both turn towards you now, and the red mech steps forward, holding one of your hands. Breakdown looked much more nervous, stepping forward he hold your other one. âWe⊠have been researching human customs. And Knockout has been telling me about some of those movie things he watches. We wanted to do something your way for onceâŠâ
Simultaneously, both bots slid onto one knee, glancing at one another Breakdown goes first. âWeâre⊠not the greatest at this Earth stuff, but weâre trying. While weâve been distant these past few days, weâve been searching for something for you.â Knockout holds out what was in his servo, theres a ring, made with ruby as the gemstone. âWill you take my servo in marriage?â Breakdown also holds out a ring, sapphire on this one. Cute they color coded them. âWould you marry me as well?â
The distance between them and you starting to come together, but that was the least on your brain right now. You had short circuited, looking at the two rings being offered to you and the fact that these two bots just proposed to you? Your silence was starting to unnerve them and they glances nervously at one another. You snapped out of it immediately, covering your mouth as tears returned to your eyes, though for a much different reason this time. âYes-â you whisper, voice breaking. You had a huge smile on your face though, so it was quite obvious to the mechs that you werenât upset.
Holding out your hand, they awkwardly put the rings on different fingers. Then looked at each other. âNow whatâŠ?â Breakdown leaned in to whisper to Knockout, who looked just as lost. âUh⊠I believe now in the movies they usually embrace each other and spin?â You laugh and hug them both. Their distance meaning so much more now, looking at the two rings on your hand you smiled. âPlease never scare me like that againâŠâ They hug you back. âNever again.â They promised.
This has been in my drafts for months TT I really wanted to try and portray the awkwardness of cybertronians who donât understand earth customs trying to do something correctly (and partially failing.) Might completely rewrite this one in the future the ending feels so rushed :â) I just want it out of my drafts lol.
