Richie sometimes wears makeup, nothing as bombastic as Drag royals put on but enough for him to feel comfortable and confident. Blush on his cheeks, eyeliner, nails, that sorts stuff. Doesn’t always have it on but he’s always able to be himself with or without his makeup. He feels comfortable and confident with having makeup. He tells Max that it’s a beautiful way for men to expand their sense of masculinity and let themselves be expressive. Richie also believes in that expressing oneself with makeup and drag isn’t just for queer people and applies to cis and straight people too.

max feels uncomfortable putting on lipstick due to his unfortunate upbringing but after letting his emotions out to Richie the two take their time with it as Max feels a sense of knowledge in Richie’s open minded ideals and eventually he steps into it and lightly adds some blush to his cheeks. Max becomes even more of a hot shot as Jagerman feels somewhat comfortable with it and is grateful that Kyle and Jason support him.

I can't type anything much about this but such a cute hc!! I can imagine Richie is emo with his makeup lmaoo made his eyebags darker so it didn't just look like he fucked up his sleep schedule. (Personally I think Richie wears eyeshadow everyday at minimum)

Max probably uses makeup to cover up blemishes and tiny things he's insecure about of his face. Which is what convinces him it's so great. Probably wears mascara and lipgloss (the clear kind, not lipstick) on occasion to make himself feel handsome.

No pressure is felt here! I'm honestly loving talking about this. I hadn't really intended this to be a story but I did get a littttlle carried away didn't I, lol.

Richie probably gets confused and held up about everything. He's seen the guy that's been bullying him for what seemed like the entirety of his schoolyears and only now is he noticing that Max had a notebook of what was probably things relating to him? (Pretty damn obvious it is, it has his fucking name on it.)

He likely sits cooped up in his room for a couple of days to think about it. Because god knows it's awkward to ask a family members opinion on whether or not someone likes you. But, what else could he do? He's NOT asking Ruth. Or Pete. Or Pete's somewhat-girlfriend---nope, nope her name is Steph. This isn't like Paul with Emma.

Richie decided to ask over dinner. It was the safest time he was able to, plus, the most readily available time he could speak to Paul in full length conversation instead of half-hearted grumbled good mornings.

Paul was...skeptical of Max, to say the least. Max had bullied Richie for seemingly no reason for so long, so of course he's not fond of him. But throughout Richie's reasoning, he at least could give him agreement. The fact that Max had been so persistent after so long was a telling sign, was it not? Though honestly, Paul wouldn't be able to tell if it wasn't pointed out to him, poor guy.

At least the talk made Richie feel better, though. But he could never, ever muster up his strength to confess anything to fucking Max Jagerman of all people. He feels like he has to keep it to himself no matter how many times his brain ogles at the fact Max could genuinely look so pretty when he wasn't being cruel.

Richie glances slightly as he suits up as Zeke. Mostly when Max is fully dressed both in his normal outfit and when he’s in his football gear. Richie also gets cheered on by Paul subtly as per Richie’s request as he takes his mascot role somewhat seriously even though most of the school probably know it’s him underneath. Especially when he unmasks when he’s not in front of the audience or any of the tweens and toddlers. he always yearns to talk to Max even if it’s obvious going to be cringey small talk. He’s immensely curious as to why Max carries around a journal titled Shitlips. Part of him hoping that it’s because Max has a crush on him.

Max definitely tries to be sneaky about this stupid blue journal he has with that's titled in Richie's name but fails because he's writing things down completely in public when he has the free time to. (Usually when he's alone, though.)

Little does Richie know, Max yearns just as much to have a good conversation with him. Whether or not it be via complimenting him as the mascot after the game and asking what he's doing later, or trying to initiate a conversation on something Max got into himself and thought Richie might like.

Max thinks Richie is pretty. Like really pretty---handsome, if he had to put a label on it---and he thought it was stupid. The way Richie's hair glistens in the sun, or the gaze of his icy-blue eyes. It drove him nuts he couldn't get him off of his head. Probably leading to some pent-up frustration he wasn't all too sure how to deal with. The Jagerman-boy had never been loved like that in any way, after all.

Richie's just...standing there wondering why Max stares so much from time to time. Though he'd been staring a lot, himself. Maybe it was deserved, but it made his mind race. He couldn't decipher whether Max was staring at something else, or directly at him with good or bad intentions. It somewhat made his stomach churn, making him stuff his hands into his armpits and scampering off to go get changed somewhere else; as he well prefers privacy over a stupid locker-room.

Both of them are too scared to initiate proper conversation, however. The most they'd get is a shove into a locker, or the upkeep of constant bullying. It was hard to break a cycle that felt like it "must be done."

max immediately updates his insults after noticing the pronouns pins Richie sometimes wears.

Fast forward to Max staying at the locker room waiting for Zeke’s arrival so he can try out his new insults as he gets his Shitlips notebook back in his locker after skimming a few pages. max definitely writes a lot more than insults, he gets in touch with his romantic side and writes about how he’d try to sit closer to the blue haired man at the restaurant the team always goes to after each game win. Jagerman would be telling himself it’s just because of Richie being a part of the team as the mascot as he continues trying to ignore his longing for Richie Shitlips. He also feels like that won’t be able to happen because Richie’s never been invited and probably wouldn’t accept it.

YAAAAAAAAAAAYYY

Max is up sitting in bed late at night hovering over his journal scribbling about how stupid it is to have Richie rotating in his train of thought so frequently THEN proceeding to write about how maybe it's not so bad and how much he just wants to hold his hand.

The sports team and cheerleaders aren’t bigots and respect Richie for who he is and immediately tackle any bigots talking shit about him risking detention, though they unfortunately find his nerdiness irritating :(

Ever mentioned in a post that you’re looking for artists to commission and suddenly everyone’s in your DMs saying they can draw anything you like including comics? Sadly those accounts tend to be people stealing art, using Generative AI without disclosing it, or even passing off traced art as their own claiming the client wanted that specific pose. These accounts also target fanfic writers so beware! Never trust anyone who randomly DMs you trying to pressure you into a commission and won’t take no for an answer.

Honestly bc I AM trans I fully support the headcanon. I love it to bits! But in my personal writing he's mostly just been cis. (Probably bc I yearn 2 have what he has physically)

HOWEVER I do really really like it when people portray him as such because it feels like me if I were in their fic TBH. Answer is that it depends on the weather.

(I feel like an evil n fucked up version of lipschitz irl js cus I look like my headcanoned version of him lmfao)
