i will never be convinced on rhysand the better high lord when tamlin opened his court to refugees during amarantha's reign, began celebrating festivities that didn't belong to spring just so they'd feel at home, played for them too with his silly fiddle omg, refused to send his people beyond the wall until he was desperate, felt them die because their bond as subject and high lord was just too great (sarah's words not mine), even buried a lesser fae in his court after he was brutalized by amarantha, dug the ground with his haaaands, said lesser fae wasn't even his subject but he offered him peace and company during his death anyway. then there's mister change takes time over here, has his people living in harsh conditions in camps, under a mountain where they cannot leave because they're more weapons than people. so if you were born anywhere in his court that's not velaris sucks to suck i guess.

Imma say something controversial (shocking I know).

Feyre. Is. A. Bad. Partner.

Her version of communication is to say something once, never bring it up again then silently throw a fit when her partner doesn’t immediately get it. This puts Tamlin in such a negative light because this makes it seem like he doesn’t care. Tamlin cares! He cares so damn much but he isn’t a mind reader like RhySAnd.

Yes she is suffering, yes she has trauma, but the readers are the only ones who know how bad it is. Tamlin doesn’t know this! How the hell can he? We also can’t forget Tamlin is suffering too, he has his own trauma he’s doing through but he doesn’t have the luxury to having time to deal with everything. And he can’t help Feyre if she won’t tell him what’s wrong. Not just mentioning it once or saying the most extreme comments without warning.

She. NEEDS. To. Tell. Him. What. Is. Wrong!

All Tamlin can do is guess and be there for her. If he tries to force her to eat she wouldn’t respond well and the fandom would have a field day claiming it’s another sign of abuse. So he tries to encourage her to get back into her hobbies. But Feyre is the one who chooses not to. Feyre is the one who tortured herself after what happened.

And by doing so she builds these higher than life expectations of Tamlin that he can’t meet. He can’t read her mind, he can’t put his duties to the Spring Court aside, and he won’t let her put herself in danger (FOR HER SAFETY).

They had just gotten free of Amarantha (who Tamlin killed) and the world is in an unstable chaos. It’s not something that can be put aside until Feyre and Tamlin feel better or up to it. And Tamlin is doing his best to get it fixed as quickly and safely as possible because there is more than Amarantha they have to worry about. This is something Tamlin should have told her but he probably didn’t want to trigger her trauma.

Yet Tamlin still tries to be there for her but he can only do so much and for Feyre and her lack of self awareness it’s not enough.

If you don’t communicate don’t act shocked when your partner doesn’t understand why you act the way you do. Or try to change the narrative to act like you’re the victim when you are purposely making yourself the victim.

I hate that everytime a newish person says something remotely redeeming about Tamlin they feel the need to make a prefix or use the line of, "I'm not excusing his abuse." The culture has been warped to make them believe this is required.

Like, it's so deeply ingrained that he's the big bad for having his magical accidently explode and trapping Feyre in a house that one time she literally tried to follow him in to a very dangerous situations which would have taken his focus away from his peoples survival and defence, or having the gall to be a bit paranoid with her safety when she was literally being hunted by Hybern (which she even admitted later that Tamlin had been correct) and them both being bad at communication. Oh, and petty name calling because she quite literally fucked everything up, could have compromised him as a double agent and he was rightfully mad.

All that he's done is still not comparable to what Rhysand has done in the name of getting what he wants, even when it comes to belittling his own people (because yes, HC and Illyrians are also his people), yet you never see a prefix about Rhysand. No, dude just gets to live merry in the narrative and fandom because he's the "best." Hell, Feyre and the entire IC have done worse shit than Tamlin, but they get far more leeway due to MC bias.

It's slightly similar with Nesta being viewed as irredeemable, but I'd argue both Tamlin and Nesta have been through and have done enough in these god damn books. They simply receive hate because they are viewed as being directly opposed to the IC, and The Mother knows that's a big no-no.

Those who want to post something about another character not particularly liked, go ahead. I promise you, you're not any of these stupid words some stans tries to insult you as. It's their way of silencing and limiting perceptions and its understandably uninviting/daunting.

I've seen some posts about Day Court attire and I was surprised to see people imagining ancient greek attire.

I always imagined the Day Court being in the desert (I don't remember if that's canon). It's known for its libraries and people who specialise in spell work. Helion is described as wearing white and gold. It always reminded me of ancient Egypt. The libraries specifically reminded me of the library of Alexandria.

So I found some ancient egyptian attire that I believe would look perfect for Day.

One thing I will never forget about Feyre is that she left a high lord who was true to his word and actually helping fae from other courts. Everyone was welcome and he was putting everyone else’s needs above his own. But because they weren’t good at communicating and were pushing their trauma to the side and refuses to find comfort in each other and talk they both got hurt. Tamlin took things too far in an effort to save her from herself and she left.

But Feyre chose to leave him for Rhysand. A high lord who doesn’t care about his people or anyone else he can’t manipulate. A liar who lives in dreams and can talk a big game but never follow through. Someone who commits SA and hides information without a single apology for his behavior. And wears a mask because it’s so important that no one knows who he really is instead of using his power and ability to help the people he refuses to help with the exception of one person.

She chose the worse possible option that got thousands of people, hurt or killed, and doesn’t care as long as she can have a fake title to throw around whenever she wants to feel important.

More on the High lord Mask and double standards

My friend yet again called me to complain about this and I had to go and find it. My friend said to me. Feyre knew of Tamlins state of mins, knew he was just as traumatize as she was or worse. So i asked my friend what chapter are we reading, she said 23 an d 24 ACOMF I wanted to send this as an ask to @acourtofthought but is too long spoused sorry I highlighted some things. Chapter 23

Here Feye speak with Nesta about her "high lord" Tamlin. Feyre acknowledged that Tamlin was Broken and knew he was consumed by the need to protect her, his court, and his people. Now let get this straight when she said he wanted to cage her. He kept her on the manor, but there is multiple instances where she actually goes outside of the manor on Lucien's request. where she goes hunting and freezes, and when she goes to look at the villages at the beginning of ACOMF. Even Nesta is like that, but he let you come back that one time; Tamlins only "cage" her when they have their last argument, when Feyre explodes and burns the ring. After spending time with Rhysand on night court who has the time to give her what she needs, she realizes that whatever is on spring court is not for her. this is the time when he technically "cages" her.

And through out al these we're made to think he's being delulu, and even Feyre here acknowledges that he was trying to protect her. Moving on. Chapter 24

When Cassian and the others visit the Archeron, we're introduced to how much Tamlin has done for them. Even Feyre says he had tried, but not really, which is in a way Hypocritical to say when literally a page before you're talking about just how broken he was. and still provided this much to your family (pardon my nails) Now on to Feyre Double Standards and Hypocrisy Chapter 29- 30

here she tell Rhys. you could just order things to be done, you're the high lord you do what you want. To which Rhys said, there is something Even I cannot do. (uhm let me thing like tradition and the Illyrians among other things?) And she lets it go. In a way yes Rhys was more eloquent at explaining why he couldn't do thing than Tamlin was. When she asked for the Tide to be removed. but let's see this scene, in here She is sharing a conversation with Rhysand. there is no undermining and not subject to see him falter, and yes is in a different context here because we speak about Velaris, but even when he speaks about Illyria and the clipping, is a conversation where he said he can't do much about tradition, whereas Tamlin is put in a position where his authority as High lord would be undermined, was undermined, in front of his subject when he's trying to re build this court. (i have to go back on this conversation to scan it btw). Feyre then Hates Tamlin for this, and yet. Forgives Rhysand. Which bring us to more high lord mask

Many complain about Tamlin, locking Feyre up. and how he said what he said on the high lord meeting and how he didn't communicate. Now here. Rhysan. put her through so much., had her almost killed multiple times. and here even he is surprised. even Rhysand asked her " after all that?" he is surprised after everything he put her through she is still grateful. because he sends music to her cell. While Lucien went every time to heal here, but couldn't one the one time he was being lashed. Feyre of course, forgive Rhysand and shrugs it off as a joke. you FORGIVE this man for putting you in danger, almost getting you killed, all because he sent music? Of course, we know he did more, like take her out and teach her how to read and have a good time. But you won't forgive a man who "kept you licked up" to keep you safe because his own court was a mess, because he tried to keep you safe and was broken, your words were not mine. and don't come at me with the " he turned her sisters" By now e know that was Ianthe, Feyre has her that ammunition. Even after all this, you decided to turn on this man and ruin his court in the next book.

and yet, Tamlin move on, even if it hurts him, he loves you so much he gave a piece of him to bring your mate back. where he could've pulled a Rhys and tricked you into a bargain. but he didn't. And you keep forgiving Rhysand quite literally playing with your life. Okay, end of my rant. oh analysis. I can't tell at this point. (I am going to write this man POV one day cause omg)

To compare both of these characters to Rhys to say SEE they don’t act like mated males, their bonds aren’t real is just shortsighted and honestly the reading comprehension is questioned.

Rowan doesn’t act like Rhys, Hunt doesn’t act like Rhys. Ruhn doesn’t act like Rhys. Rhys is not the example when it comes to how a mating bond should work. He’s just him and that how HE acts. All these men are written differently from each other and how they interact with their mates.

Lucien was the only person who believed Elain and went looking for Vassa while everyone else, including Azriel, questioned her. The first thing he did after the battle was seek Elain out to ensure she was safe and unharmed.

Cassian fought the magic of a MADE OBJECT, he fought the magic of the Crown of the Dread Trove and chose to turn the knife on himself instead of killing Nesta.

Just because Sarah didn’t write them acting like Rhys or how YOU want them to doesn’t mean their bonds are fake or wrong or whatever people come up with now adays. Cassian and Nesta are done, it’s set in stone. They are mated, and that’s not going to change. Eris is not her mate, Cormac (RIP) is defiantly not her mate. Lucien and Elain are mates. It was confirmed in ACOWAR. There are not two different mating bonds. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again HOFAS proved it’s the mother that makes them NOT the cauldron.

If y’all want to have your little crackship then fine have at it. I clearly worship at the alter of Gwynriel but guess what, it doesn’t stop me from enjoying Azriel and Eris content.
