In nostalgia, there is no difference between a day, a year, a decade, or a lifetime, because the amount of longing is beyond the idea of time.

I’m With Her End Campfire Series with Lucinda Williams’ “Price to Pay”
Josh Kaufman doesn’t know the words to Lucinda Williams’ “Price to Pay,” so when Aoife O’Donovan offered him a verse, Kaufman responded with a solo on his classical guitar.
The producer was sitting around a campfire with his fellow guitarist O’Donovan, Sarah Jarosz on banjo and Sara Watkins - the trio known as I’m With Her - who strummed a fiddle and sung lead. It’s informal in the extreme and the video is dark and blurry; despite this, the voices of I’m With Her come through with crystalline clarity, confirming once again their status as the premier harmony band of the moment.
It’s the last of four campfire covers from the band. Fans can only hope it’s a teaser for a covers album; for as this and the previous videos make clear, I’m With Her could knock this project out in one night.
It might not be perfect. But it would, indeed, be perfect.

Darrell Scott and the Scott Brothers Offer “Sweet Forgiveness” on a “Sunday” Video
- Weekly series rewinds to Kentucky 2019
With a title like “Sweet Forgiveness” and piano like David Scott’s, the song masquerades as a gospel number.
But when Darrell Scott cuts into blues guitar and David Scott begins singing of losing his nuclear family over his siblings’ subtle-but-persistent rhythm section, the Darrell Scott composition reveals itself as secular:
There was whiskey for breakfast/there were nights up in smoke/lord, that monkey was laughin’/and left me for broke, David Scott sings.
Captured seven years ago to the day, on May 31, 2019, in Kentucky, “Sweet Forgiveness” is out as episode 85 in Darrell Scott’s “It Must be Sunday” series. One might forgive Darrell for not sharing the stage with his brothers more frequently; however, performances such as this do raise questions about the wisdom in that.
And the response comes June 4 and 5 when Darrell Scott and the Scott Brothers are slated to perform in Tennessee.

How many slams in an old screen door? Depends how loud you shut it. How many slices in a bread? Depends how thin you cut it. How much good inside a day? Depends how good you live 'em. How much love inside a friend? Depends how much you give 'em.

“The modern world has far too little understanding of the art of keeping young. Its notion of progress has been to pile one thing on top of another, without caring if each thing was crushed in turn. People forgot that the human soul can enjoy a thing most when there is time to think about it and be thankful for it. And by crowding things together they lost the sense of surprise; and surprise is the secret of joy.” –G.K. Chesterton
