He totally did. You deserve someone who makes you feel comfortable being yourself. We all do.
You’re totally right. Everyone should be able to be themselves with the one they love.

marleyemmerose:
It would be really cool to have someone other than my sister and mom in the audience.
Just let me know which day you’re performing, and I’ll be sure to be there.
beatricefabray:
I don’t think any of those things are unattractive A lot of those characteristics I see in myself and in others here.
Glad to know they aren’t unattractive qualities and the ex lied about that.
marleyemmerose:
I actually work here but I write songs on the side. I’m going to be performing some next week if you want to stop by.
That’s awesome! I’d love to stop by and hear some of your songs.
marleyemmerose:
That’s a wide variety. I’m quite impressed.
Well, thank you. I love it! What do you do?

New friend. This guy was cute if not just a little oblivious, his little ramble causing the corners of his lips to quirk up. “I don’t have a hard line on anyone,” Elias assured him, though that preference did skew more towards masculine-aligned individuals than others. Glancing to a nearby booth he gestured towards it and started making his way over, further assuring this guy he had the green light. “But if I did, it wouldn’t be on you.” The once-over was made much more obvious the second time around, coolly taking a sip from the drink that was in his hand.
At the sight of Eli heading toward the booth, Jem finally caught on and followed. “Oh, well, I’m glad you don’t have a hard line.” He gave the other a smile and was honestly glad he didn’t have to make another round through the room for a while, if ever again during the event. “I’m not particularly good at asking ice breaker questions, so if you want, we can skip that and just tell each other about ourselves a bit.” He sat, surprised but happy he’d managed to get this far.
rykerjames:
“Ah, well I am hoping that I wont be doing the same as him…the walk of shame.” he smirked a bit with a small blush on his face. He watched Jem give his dog a treat as he kept petting him him a bit. “ Mhmm I am glad,” he looked back up at Jem,” No need to thank me. I get it, Coffee is lifeblood,”
“I think that was more on him than me. He kinda left his phone behind and his wife called.” Jem shrugged, noticing the blush. “So, I don’t think they will. Will they, Spocky?” He giggled just a little bit, loving how friendly his dog could be with new people. “You said it! The elixir of life!” He sipped at his coffee.
beatricefabray:
What does a guy like you mean?
Really nerdy, artistic, and a hopeless romantic.
lightofeli:
Eli’s head turned as he heard the other man’s voice, offering a similar smile to the one Jem afforded him. It seemed everyone in this place was vibrating at the same nervous but optimistic frequency. “You can call me Eli,” he said politely along with a nod. This guy had a streak of bravery approaching another guy here without indication of his sexuality and that managed to score him some points - he wasn’t sure himself how eager he’d be to make that plunge. “I am, yeah. Guessing you are as well?” he responded, giving a quick glance over to show this guy he was barking up the right tree.
“Oh, good. I’m glad. It’s very nice to meet you, Eli.” Jem let out a light hearted chuckle, happy to find someone else who was there for the event and who seemed interested. “I am. Also, if you’re not into guys, feel free to let me know. If nothing else, it just means I came out of here with a new friend.” The glance over hadn’t been noticed as the illustrator got caught up in his own mind. He hadn’t quite gotten a hold of what had made him brave enough to approach, but he was grateful for whatever it was.
rykerjames:
“It is a fun age. He is a smart little boy,” he smiled some more as he kept petting Spock, loving the small dog. “I was going to ask,how many James you have brought home,” he teased a bit. “Thank you, I am okay with that. “ He said as he sat down in one of the chairs. “I hope you enjoy the coffee,”
“You’re the second James. The other one I didn’t find out about until I caught him trying to do the walk of shame.” Jem teased, giving Spock a treat for being so good with their company. “I’m sure I will, cutie.” He sat on the sofa and sipped at his coffee. “Thank you again for bringing it over. You’re a lifesaver.”
rykerjames:
“Yes I do. He is about six years old, he is my pride and joy,” he blushed as the other man asked about Alex. “Such a cutie, hello mr. Spock,” he cooed before looking up at Jem. “Its a pleasure to meet you Jem, my name is James and I use He/him pronouns as well,” he smiled.
“Aw. That’s such an adorable age.” Jem grinned as Spock wagged his tail. “It’s not every day I bring another James into my home.” He chuckled and led him into the living room. “Make yourself at home. Fair warning that Spock will probably jump into your lap and give you lots of kisses.”

F2F || Jem & Elias
The coffee shop had filled up quite nicely with patrons filling in, nametags passed out to each that walked up to a table towards the entrance. Elias was one of the ones that’d come here today for a reason - he was lonelier than he’d like to admit. With it being over a year since his last serious relationship and the emptiness of the stray hookup he thought this might be a good way to start putting himself out there again. He quickly ordered a mocha from the counter and made his way further in, offering polite smiles and small talk to those around. He was one of the lucky ones, he thought. He had plenty of choices today.
It had been a while since Jem had ended up at something like this, and he’d never had much luck. Mostly because he always ended up getting caught up in a subject instead of getting to move around. It had also been a few months since his relationship ended (despite friends telling him it was doomed from the start), so he was brand new to the dating field once more. There were lots of people around. A warm yet nervous smile greeted each person. A few seemed to be his type, but would he end up being anyone else’s type. Eventually, he made his way to someone. “Hi. Name’s Jem. A-are you here for the event?” He asked curiously.
beatricefabray:
There is a lot of attractive people here. It’s reason to nervous.
That’s true. Now just to see if there’s anyone that likes guys like me.
marleyemmerose:
No kidding! I’m a twin too. So what is it that you do if you’re not a known Broadway star?
That’s awesome! I’m an illustrator. Sometimes I team up with my brother and illustrate the playbills if he’s directing, but mostly I do comics and graphic novels.
beatricefabray:
It probably wouldn’t take much to send me over the edge. How are you feeling about this whole thing?
Same here, honestly. I’m good. Nervous like most everyone else here, but good. How are you doing?
marleyemmerose:
I think I’ve seen you around my neighborhood. Are you that Broadway guy?
Actually, I’m a twin! The Broadway guy is my brother, Jesse.
marleyemmerose:
Hot chocolate was my choice. I’m Marley!
Hot chocolate is always a good choice. I’m Jem.
