Probably not until August. Deadlines at work, and I’m moving. 😢 I have more than 6,000 words of the next chapter ready though, just gotta find the time and push through.

I updated Roronoa Zoro Is a Terrible Boyfriend again, but I feel like people are gonna be mad at me because it’s not a continuation of the story….. It’s an interlude showing Zoro and Luffy’s first meeting from Zoro’s POV.

Anyway, don’t be mad, please. I’m working on the actual next chapter!

We don’t talk enough about how Zoro tosses his swords aside at Thriller Bark. Once he makes his decision and is told by Kuma that taking on Luffy’s pain would kill him, Zoro removes all three of his swords and just… yeets them. Symbolically, this is huge. This is Zoro giving up everything for Luffy. No hesitation. He even throws Wado!

If the live action gets to this point, the only change I would like to see is instead of tossing all three swords, I wanna see Zoro draw Wado and insert it into the ground next to Luffy; or, I’d like to see him place all three swords by Luffy’s side. Because the swords are his devotion, the swords are his way of supporting Luffy’s ambitions. I would like to think that even if Zoro believes he will die, he’d want his swords by Luffy’s side to fulfill his promise to Luffy.

Zoro/Luffy fic idea that I’d wanna read but don’t have time to write:

ABO AU where omega-Zoro is a teacher/coach several years older than his alpha, Luffy. Due to the age gap, Zoro does his best to resist his newly presented alpha, but Luffy is young, brash, and isn’t worried about much except going after what (and whom) he wants.

As with canon, Luffy is selfish and Zoro is stressed.

Has this been written yet?! If not, PLEASE, someone who is definitely not me should write it.

Zoro wanting to become a police officer in the latest chapter of my modern-day high school AU fic is based on Oda’s answer in this SBS.

Fun fact: the prestigious All Japan Kendo Championship has been consistently won by police officers throughout the last 50 years. I think something like 40 out of 50 winners have been police. Japan’s larger police departments churn out the most champions. Apparently, in particular, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police has one of the best kendo academies in the world.

Some fans have questioned why Oda would make Zoro a cop, which is basically a modern marine. Setting aside the fact that cops are perceived differently in Japanese culture than they are in the west, I think the kendo connection makes Zoro’s career choice a bit more reasonable.

Anyway, I just thought this was a fun tidbit about Zoro’s character and wanted to include it in my story.

The thing about writing a long ZoLu fic from a third-party perspective is that readers don’t get to see all the private, one-on-one time between the two main characters who are falling in love. I’m so happy that Roronoa Zoro Is a Terrible Boyfriend gets the reception it does, because I was very worried readers would lose interest when 50k words in, we’re still only seeing the ZoLu develop from Sanji’s perspective.

With that being said, I’m writing a standalone chapter retelling how Zoro and Luffy met and became friends. Because this scene from the Hungry Days commercial has been the driving force behind this fic and I NEED TO WRITE IT.
