HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I LOVE THIS PLAY
“I am an expression of the divine, just like a peach is, just like a fish is. I have a right to be this way. I can’t apologize for that, nor can I change it, nor do I want to. We will never have to be other than who we are in order to be successful. We realize that we are as ourselves unlimited and our experiences valid. It is for the rest of the world to recognize this, if they choose.”
— Alice Walker, The Color Purple
every sapphic book i love → the color purple by alice walker*
I wash her body, it feel like I'm praying. My hands tremble and my breath short.
* as a trans person myself, I do not support alice walker. but this book, and what it represents in the canon of black lesbian literature, is deeply important to me.
Life is suffering. It is hard. The world is cursed, but still you find reasons to keep living.

kid in the library just said "a VILLAIN who lives in the MOON is after us" so keep an eye out for that today guys
aftersun (2022) dir. by Charlotte Wells
so much of the horror genre is informed by the metaphor of queer/transness as monstrousness. especially emphasizing the amount of horror that depends on the audience's repulsion at seeing a human body changing into a new, other body. I Saw the TV Glow is about the horror of NOT transitioning. the horror of static. the horror of looking into yourself and being terrified of what you see. the horror of seeing who you are and choosing to do nothing about it. the horror of looking away. and by god is it terrifying.
i think about moonlight (2016) all the time. it truly has a piece of my heart i’m not exaggerating
i just thought about you, man, we got this jukebox in here and, um… folks come by and play their songs, that’s the music we get in here, and it’s… this dude, man… just reminded me of you. so, uh… hey man, if you ever come to town, man, you come holler at me. i’ll cook you something. maybe… maybe play that song for you

“Relax. I got you. I promise. I won’t let you go.”
