hey isn’t it really fucked up how in squirrelflight’s hope it canonizes squirrelflight always having wanted kits one day and also didn’t retcon away yellowfang lying that she would never have kits

anyway imagine feeling as though because your mate became deputy first and then divorced you and hates you, you don’t think he’d ever make you deputy when he’s leader. and your adopted kids hate you, and you’ll never have biological kids of your own. and even your sister is no longer the clan’s medicine cat.

so both your dreams are gone. they’re dead. you will never be a leader with kits who will rule the forest and your sister will never be the best medicine cat the clans have ever seen. but as it stands right now the only thing you have is your aforementioned sister and by god will you stand by her side.

because that was squirrelflight for almost all of omen of the stars

I really don’t think any other storyline in all of wc has ever been as uniquely gut wrenching and hard hitting and squirrelstar and leafpool. it’s so difficult to put into words and if you don’t get it you don’t get it but they were sisters. do you understand. they were sisters and one day they were so full of life and love. they felt each other’s love and pain and grief and happiness and they would do anything for each other. squirrelflight gave up everything for leafpool she prioritized her sister over her clan her code her mate everything. and when it all came crashing down they still had each other. they always had each other. do you understand that. and then one day leafpool died. when they were children they promised each other squirrelpaw would be leader and leafpaw would be by her side as her medicine cat and they’d lead the clan together and then leafpool dies and squirrelflight goes through both actual fucking heaven and hell and she is made leader and she never gets her sister back. she was the other half of her soul. who else if not her. who can grow her a new sister. and so on. do you understand

there at least seems to be a general consensus nowadays, at least in a post squirrelflight's hope world, that squirrelflight and leafpool were not "bad people for lying about the kits" (hooray, whoop tee doo, etc), but i still see a lot of "well it was still kind of shitty of them to not tell brambleclaw at least" and im sorry but i wholeheartedly disagree. even in a generous assesment of brambleclaw's character, from an in character perspective going off of the new prophecy, he is judgmental and insecure and quick to anger. he makes up assumptions about squirrelflight's beliefs in his head and then holds them against her. he does not tell her about training in the dark forest and how that lead to him having to make the decision to kill her father or not. he is very ambitious and proud of his standing. he just became deputy.

considering that this is warrior cats where a good chunk of their community is cruel and conservative, that people are always saying horrible shit about daisy around this time, that just shortly before squirrelflight and leafpool's lifetime (and during brambleclaw's) there was an incident where three cats were put to death for being half clan and two of the major parties involved in that are currently comfortably clan leaders- no i don't think it would have been the wiser kinder and safer move for squirrelflight to put her sister's life in the hands of her insecure and aggressive boyfriend and hoped for him to play along with secretly adopting her half clan medicine cat children as his own at his own risk. even if he'd *maybe* help them out with no issue, i still fully believe that that chance is signiiificantly less than 100%. hell even if he did help them I think he'd be horrible to them about it

The childhood warrior cat oc is a parasite that inhabits in the brain

I hope the next round of warrior cats mini figures continues to be packaged in the displays the way this set has because it's been a huge lifesaver. It's much easier to find the cats you're looking for without blowing tons and tons of money when you can get an idea of what rarity is in each spot, and how many of each character are in each display. I got my Cinderpelt because I knew which side to pull from the second row in case an uncommon was there, and that's only because the packages are consistant. You're still able to get dupes, you don't know exactly which character you're getting, and you'll never be certain if there's a rare on the top row instead of an uncommon, all while drastically lowering the need to blow large amounts of money on these blind minis. It's actually more challenging to find a specific common than it is a uncommon or rare which is kind of funny. Anyway I like how these boxes are set up I think it discourages the money spending and creates a fairer experience overall I hope it stays.
